YO GEORGIANS! :)

He had 5 ... We grabbed them all. And 3 eggs.

We'll be back and forth to his place a lot so I can check on that for you from time to time.

The chicks that we got seem to all be cockrels ... That's why he sold them all so cheap. Don't care at this point ... I just REALLY wanted some of his line(s) at the farm.

flower ... a couple of the chicks from your eggs gave me a new experience.  They pipped on the wrong end and ended up creating a weird foam out of the residual moisture in their eggs.  They're both fine now after a little help but it was so weird ... I've never seen that before.

The ducks are looking great.  They get a fine mist spray almost every day.  I guess it sort of replicates wet duck butt ... plus it is something that I started doing last year when I had chicken and duck eggs in the incubator together.  Seems to help offset the lower incubating humidity that I run for the chickens.

Did you notice if the eggs were really symmetrical? I remember I collected a few eggs that I couldn't tell the tops from the bottoms! I even candled them but couldn't see any air space, so I just had to guess! They may have been stored upside down, which could have caused that! Sorry! Did you get any Naked Necks? You also could end up with a frizzle!

Nothing at all to be sorry about. Just something that I had never run across before ... the foam and all ... and was wondering if you had seen it before. And now that you mention it, yes ... they were quite symmetrical.

No NNs yet, though there are still a couple left to go.

Funny story that I don't think I shared here yet. I was contacted by somebody semi-local that was offering hatching eggs for the schools. When I picked them up the guy was talking about his roughly 50% hatch rate like it was a major accomplishment. The whole time he was talking I kept thinking he had a fertility issue or something. I got the eggs home and opened the carton to start marking them and found that at lest 80% were in upside-down. (He had placed them that way intentionally as he had put his markings on them.) I think I have a better understanding of his hatch rate issues now. lol

You should tell him. I lot of people don't understand the importance of 'fat end up'
