YO GEORGIANS! :)

Who was looking for Cochins? There is an add on craigslist under hatching chicken eggs out of Anderson, sc. In the listing they mention that they also sell hens. They listed Cochins hens for sale.
Hi Flowerbh, that would have been me leaving footprints all all over the place looking for Cochins. Thanks for the tip.

I realize that some poultry are rare (right now) and harder to breed but gosh, the prices sometimes! A chicken friend of mine travelled a bit for the LOs he got last year. The seller had other breeds too, said he set X amount of eggs and only one hatched so by his figuring that one chick is worth $250!! I don't recall which breed it was but I remember thinking that it was one that was a bit more popular and not so hard to get anymore.

I've felt left out at times for having no nighttime predators. Well now I do! Left five (month-old/plus) cockerels out last night in an enclosure by the big coop.. Just went out to find four. something snatched one of the BCM from under the edge of the house part (where I FORCED them to go once it got dark :/ )

Guess the babies are more tender and put up less fight.. I'm just glad whatever it was doesn't mess with the big kids.

hi carcar80, any idea on what the predator was?

Hi everyone! I have three ducks whom I raised together and love very much. There's only one problem: I don't have a lake. I'm planning on selling them to one of my moms friends that she's know for a while. This lady has many animals and a lake. So, how much do you think you can get for two mallards and a great white pekin?
I would go for the price that was quoted, but take no less than 20 for the birds start high and you can always come down, I loved my Peking duck Plucky she was so funny and affectionate and laid the most beautiful eggs. Neighbors kid killed her that was such a sad moment and I have never gotten another one, thanks for the memories

Hatching tray is filling up again. This is a good thing since I need space in the incubating trays. Looks like about 15 or so out and another 15 or so pipped.
