YO GEORGIANS! :)

Just wanted to publicly thank you for the ladies and for your hospitality while my wife and I were at your place!
The hens are doing great. They love their new "Chicken Tractor" home.

They staked out spots fairly early.

The move didn't seem to stress them out at all - these three eggs were laid after their first night, and we got two more of the lighter eggs yesterday.

One hasn't laid yet and one seems to have skipped a day (which happens) so I figured I'd reward them with some ranging time and a cabbage treat to let them feel more at home.
Moved the tractor/coop to a spot with fresh grass and bugs too :)

Hey! Welcome to our crazy forum! The coop looks fabulous! From the eggs I see, it looks like the Rhodebar has not laid yet. You know, she is really young and I thought I was getting pullet eggs from her. Hers will be small brown eggs until they get bigger. Houdini lays the light blue one, Penny lays the whitish one and Emma lays the larger brown one. They looks so happy!

Why not hogs too? Our biggest one was SUPPOSED to go to processing last Friday. After 2 1/2 hours of wrangling he got what he wanted- to stay in the lot! Us newbie hog raisers can't get fatso porkchops loaded alive so other 'arrangements' are being made to load him the opposite way:) So why not raise hogs?;-)
I have a friend who raises hogs, they pull up on their tail and then use that to steer them where ever they need them to go.

Got my incubator with an automatic egg turner!!!!! Now I just need to find some eggs to hatch. This is going to be my first batch so I am going to need to some help and advise.
Oh no another one, someone quick save them, once you get started you won't be able to stop. They say crack is a heck of a drug, they have not tried chicken.

HAHAHAHA!!!! Thanks! I'd rather be addicted to chicken than crack. But seriously I am hoping this will be my small business. I want to be a breeder. So I need practice. And my Husband is okay with that!

Rhoda will get there.
The children are determined to use their own names for the girls.
Their proposals:

Houdini is Tyson
Emma is Ginger
Rhoda is Sassafras
Penny is Nuggets

Other ideas they threw out were "Lemon Pepper" and "Rosemary".

I received my Silver Silkie eggs today in the mail. I need info on hatching shipped eggs! Where can I find it? I looked under the learning center but I must not be putting in the right question. I think you are supposed to let the egg rest when you receive shipped eggs but not sure and if so for how long before I put them on the turner in the incubator?
