Just to add alittle something to that- My dh refused to buy feed last Fall cuz he said I had too many chickens. I don't think he liked the winter with me after I had to sell all but 10 chickens. In January he started letting me get a few more and even let me place an order. Then he felt bad when half of the shipped chicks arrived doa. Of those ordered I was supposed to have gotten 5 WL but only 1 was brought back to life so I waited until TSC got some in. By the time they got some in I was up to 25 or so chickens. Dh said I couldn't have 50 or more again. Went into TSC, argued silently with myself then texted my dh that he would be so proud of me for coming out with NO CHICKS. After work that evening dh called me from TSC wanting to know where the WL pullets were! See, sometimes they say slow down but they secretly want you to be happy
The WL were sold out so 2 days ago I tried for the same result from dh when TSC got in sicilian Buttercups, cuckoo marans and dominiques. Uh, 10-4 on a no go: it only works once! Why would he help me build a 10'x10' chick house for no chicks? There is no slowing down...just sneaking in a couple when he isn't looking
I think she's being selfish. I think she should be selling the ducks cheaper, providing the first 3 months of starter feed, going to their homes and building suitable duck pens, and spending time educating these people on proper care. If she would just put forth a little effort, these poor people could become productive members of the duck owners community. Sheesh....some people are just not team players.

ok, so who needs hatching eggs next week? Who all is going to Cliff's? I may be bringing my three ducks and some chicks. Also need to sell my male Showgirl and bring Carcar her OE.
And, because my favorite chicks got sold by mistake, I now have 80 eggs in two incubators!

I have my new bator now just waiting on the rest of my eggs to show up.
Question it is the one from TSC that has the egg turner with it, now I'm used to my brinsea and it has water wells in it so I know how to do the moisture what do you put on the bottom just a wash cloth? tips and hints are appreciated also what humidity do you run, I will be cooking BCM's along with EE's and was told to run a lower humidity so the BCM's won't be sticky so what is the happy medium for all on board?

Flower- I think you are right to say no. But then I'd keep the person on the phone as long as I could before they got mad and hung up just starting at the beginning with complete duckling/chick care including the fact that singles can die of loneliness. Or you could just start your answer to an easter chick asker with 'You know they poop right?'
I have a hen that is acting funny for a few days. I don't think it's egg bound, which I lost a couple too that had a waddle and a low butt. This hen doesn't want to come out of the coop to free range, falls asleep all the time, let's me touch her and on a normal day she wouldn't let me get close. She seems to be walking slow and looks like she's "zoning" out then goes to sleep. Any suggestions on what might be wrong with her or have had the same issue???
