I think bargain is the only name on that list that still posts here.

just to show the nature of a hobby forum, I'd venture to say out of those 41 there's probably less than 10 that still occasionally post, less than 5 that are active posters, maybe even less than 3

edit to say: robo, we were thinking the same thought line. I do think dawg53 is still pretty active in other parts of the forum. Pretty much the 'go to' over in the emergencies forum when it comes to treating for lice, mites and worms

So I know there are some people here that understand genetics better than I do. I have a black ameraucana rooster and one black and one splash pullet. I can easily tell the two girls' eggs apart. So I should end up with blue chicks from the splash and black chicks from the black. I swear a black chick hatched out of the splash's egg. Is this possible but really unlikely or just impossible?

Two blue chicks. The bluer egg is from the splash.

That egg is gone and the black fluff ball arrived.

All three.

I live in Georgia! I just went to the TSC animal swap and they didn't have much there. I felt bad for all the chicks panting in the heat. :( BUT I did see some super cute ducks, silkies, barred rocks, golden comets, crested leg bars, and a really pretty rooster tail!!!!! It was fun!!!! I held a baby duck a fell in love. Too bad I don't have a pond.

We had a hen brood her first chicks! The first one I found out of the nest box, cold and barely alive. Momma would not take it back and it was no longer peeping. As soon as I put the little wet chick next to my bare skin it started kicking. Pulled out the Premier brooder plate and in less than 30 minutes the little chick was dried out and very noisy. Mom would still not take the chick back so little "Easter" lived on my shoulder, under my sweatshirt, and would pull my hair over its little body. Three more hatched during the day and at night while everyone was asleep I placed Easter under her wing and she accepted Easter happily! They are so cute! They are barnyard mix. The rooster is a buff brahma and so we had two buff brahamas, one EE buff brahma mix, and one Silver Laced Wyandotte buff brahma mix. They are so cute!!!! Their names are Easter, Palmer, Jelly Bean, and Cadbury!

you would most likely get a quicker and more qualified answer in the ameraucana thread than I can give, there's a breeding color chart in there that will clarify. The splash and black will give you blues, and yes there is a percentage of the splash and splash that will end up black. I'll post the link for the thread for you, I have it in my subscriptions so I can get to it quick since I have blue ameraucanas

that's to the most recent page but you can scroll back through. I'm thinking I saved that color chart somewhere I'll see if I can find it for you
