Not chicken related, but weird story. My son dated a girl in high school 10 years ago. The girl now lives in California. About a month ago, my daughter who lives in Washington, D.C. was getting on a plane from Dallas back to DC when this young girl asked if she remembered her. It was the girl my son dated. Well, today our renters got here. One of the young girls came up and asked if we remembered her. Yep, the same girl. She is here with this group for a wedding! Small world!

I took all their ducks....except the pekins. Two are either mallard or rouen and the rest kinda look ancona-ish.

They are Rouens in case you haven't googled it yet. Rouens have 2 stripes, mallards have 1.

I did not. I know they are very close to being identical at that age. I didn't know if they were mallard or rouens. I guess I know now. But that's ok since we already have both at the farm.

I've got a Rouen in the coop right now. They are identical except for the eye stripes.

We have two females left out of all the ones we hatched last year. They are so funny looking with their big ol sagging bellies. Our male ancona has laid claim to them. No telling what them babies are going to look like.

So i have a couple questions. Since my duck obviously won't be climbing on the roosting bars with the chickens what type of living arrangement should i make in the coop for the duck? Also wooohooo 8 days of broody being on the nest. Cannot wait to see if something hatches. What is the magic number 21-22 days?

21 days Our ducks just sleep around the floor of the coop, but they like to lay their eggs in a crate I keep in there. The door of the crate stays open, I guess they feel it's like a small room.
