YO GEORGIANS! :)

The duck thinks she's a chick right now anyways. I need to sneak out there and see where she's sleeping. The 3 chicks have started sleeping on the roosting bars with the adult birds.

Yes the strange behavior was what made me tell the fox story.. No dogs out off leash until it's gone and I'm calling DNR this morning when they open. I pray they'll be willing to help especially with this being right in town.

It's out there screaming right now. They're cool but I HATE this particular noise. Sounds like a woman being attacked.

when you call DNR, I wouldn't mention shooting at it, they're not 'in season' right now.........
Good point. Which I hate, because his/her reaction (or lack thereof) to the shot was my biggest concern. Anyway. I doubt they'll even be willing to help anyway but hopefully so.

One more story. Coming down the driveway this afternoon there was an animal in the pasture laying down. It didn't move so my first thought was a baby deer (shut up, my eyes are terrible).

Got closer and it stood up.. A FOX!! And it was mangy-looking. It stood and looked at me and turned to walk off. I started whistling like a hurt something (chick? rabbit? LOL).. That interested it long enough for hubby to get out with the rifle.

He got one shot at it but missed (of COURSE the sight is off

). But the weirdest part was when the shot popped the ground RIGHT beside the dang thing, it didn't run. It walked a few steps then swung around and looked at the ground. Then shook its head a few times. Then walked slowly off the property.

I called animal control, who was closed. Called the police station, who told me to call 911 and see if they could dispatch AC. 911 told me to call DNR, who was also closed.

So anyway. That was my excitement for the day. And we are now on the lookout for this mangy old thing. Ew!

Be careful carcar. That's classic rabies behavior.
