I'm going to get some Chocolate Runner Ducks from jdduck this week. I have 8 Fawn and White Runners that should hatch next Monday. Baby ducks are the cutest thing ( but also the messiest).

I had this problem with pasty butt ,Take a very warm wet wash clothe hold thete little butt on it then do the other one that way it can soften up for you then go back to the first chick with fresh warm clothe it will come of f2f easy then go to second chick doing the same then blow dry slightly dont cutt or put chick back with butt wet as the other chicks will see something wrong with their little rear and peck on them.

I washed there little tushes and dryed them best I could then put them back under the lamp everyone looked good when I came home from work today . Thank You for the help do you know why they get that mess is there something to prevent it ?

there little stomach is having a hard time digesting the protein in there food it seems the sool is too hard but in all actually this is not the case they are having runny bowels i even watched mine and actully saw that they are pooping standing up instead of squatting a little bit and so with a loose bowel it sticking in there down feathers sooo each time they go a little more builds up and a little more and so and so on until there little vent is stopped up ,you much keep the vent open so as they can have bowel momentif not they will die and yes there is something that will help my great grandmother raised chickens and when this happened she would mix a little plain flour with there chick feed i remembered this tried it and it still works I feed mine wheat flour plain as self raising will make there little stomach swell up when they drink water try it you be surpise how much they will love it.

Thanks for the help I washed their little tushes put them back under the heat lamp this morning ,when I came home after work they all looked good and active no more pasty butts , by the way that's more like cement then paste .
