YO GEORGIANS! :)

with stickers

ugh. Just about everything out here has thorns and stickers and needles. There is a mammoth sized Hawthorne (?) planted by the side door of our house. Beautiful when blooming, but it had to be sriously cut back this fall. I have no idea how I managed to not get shredded. It took me 3 hours because it kept getting snarled in my hair and my clothes.

One on right is a Virginia Creeper. But, my Virginia creepers don't have stickers. Maybe you are looking at blackberry bushes?

aha! I thought may be Virginia Creeper, but maybe not. We do have wild blackberries all over the place. DH just pointed some out on the other side of the fence in front of the run. They're a little different but I will keep my eye on it. If it's blackberries, I'll leave them for the chickens to munch on.

Any of you plant savvy folks out there know what this is? I've never had poison ivy before or any other (oak or sumac). I've also never seen any of those in person. Only in photos. I know the saying "leaves of three let it be", but I also know it can have up to 7 leaflets. This looks suspect to me. It is growing through the fence in very close proximity to the coop and where I'm working. I've never seen this before.
It looks like our blackberry vines we have in our backyard. If its not they were growing extremely close together.Quote: We call these brambles. A couple of times I let them grow thinking I might get blackberries. No such luck. So it might be a berry but might just be a bramble.

yes. the entire vine is fuzzy. It's definitely not MJ. I would not be sharing that photo. I'd be baking brownies.LOL But seriously, though. I have never seen it before. it is definitely a vine. If it isn't poison of any kind, then I just need to cut it back. Just don't want to handle it until I figure it out.

@katsdar oh no! I thought for sure 'he' was a boy from the bright black/silver coloring. :( I even thought I caught him crowing once. Let's definitely wait a few weeks to be sure, but even if 'he' ends up being a 'she' if you and your DH have grown attached you're welcome to keep him. I'll take him back if you just don't want him/her, but if you DO want him/her please keep him! You've got more space than me and the ability to give him/her a significant other. :D

Hi,

I've been busy and I have not had a real chance to send you a message, but when I told my DH that I was giving you a chance to get her back, he said sure for a grand so that means no he wants to keep her/him he really does like Acorn and she/he is really settling into the flock and gets to free range all day and seems happy, course if I got to play all day, get treats and unlimited food and water I'd be happy too!!! oh and don't forget the holding and loving, she just sits so nicely in your lap content, I really have fallen in love with this bird, her and the silkies are a 3some you never see them far from each other and they snuggle at bed time.

Mr Stanley Roosterface crowed this morning!!!! Yay! He seemed to startle himself the first time. He appeared shocked for a minute, then did it again. Not a full grown up crow, but it was a hearty attempt.

Zero. Zero is the number of Fs I give that it's raining. I'm painting the inside of the coop anyway. It's under cover. However, from the looks of the weather this coming week, I'll be painting the outside after the chicks are moved into it. LOL i don't think they'll mind.
