This is cool.. The first eggs I hatched from my blue layers, were crossed with the BLRW roo. So I sold them as EE instead of olives, since I wasn't sure what shade egg they would lay.

A coworker has some of those girls and got her first eggs this week. LOOK how beautiful! Makes me feel good 1) that my other customers will get pretty green eggs too, and 2) that my current chicks are liable to lay even darker green since the Marans is with them. :)

One more thing.. My first Legbar out is dry and appears to be a boy. :) I've not hatched these before but he definitely doesn't appear to have chipmunk stripes.

Just got back from our farmers market in Dahlonega. I took my chicks. They told me as long as I had a poultry license, which I do, thanks to Cliff!, I could sell my chicks. Didn't sell any today, but had a lot of people say they wanted some but they needed to build a coop, brooder, etc. and asked if I would be back next week. I think the chicks being there was a magnet for the customers and I ended up selling all my chicken and duck eggs in about an hour! YAY! This was the first time I took chicks and I think that once people know I have chicks, they may come to get some!

Mine from Rocky are hatching too! One is a CCL roo and one that was marked Marans X NN, but I am pretty sure it is a Welsummer X legbar (Olive eggers!) because I've had some from him before and this one is identical! And, it is a female! Both the Welsummer and the Legbar females are chipmunk patterned, so the cross of those two also produce chipmunk patterned pullets!
