I use the totes in an enclosed feed shed. I think it is 18 gallon totes that hold 50+ pounds and one of the longer ones holds 100 pounds. I have mouse traps in the feed shed (chickhouse) that have yet to catch anything but I've seen a little evidence. Nothing has gotten into the totes in 5 yrs but you have to make sure the lids are on all the way. Chicken feed, hog feed, dog feed and scratch.

Were those from my eggs or from Rocky Rhodes? I may want them but we are so far away! Especially the light colored one. All mine here are black or blue. Wanting a different color! Are you coming this way for any reason?
 
Sorry, Robo. Boyfriend vetoed them. I asked and he took one sidelong glace at them and said, "those look like vultures." I guess that's that then, no NNs for us. I'm probably going to have to slim down the flock as is, and strangely I prefer the totally naked chickens to the NNs. Which is weird because they look even crazier!

GAM, all the chicks are doing great! Really strong and active. Trying to see if I can ID the color on this one though, she's really cute now! She came from one of the two medium colored maran mix eggs. I was thinking maybe blue or splash? Do you have blue in your flock though? I don't remember.

This was the other medium color maran-mix egg, seems to have a rose comb maybe?

And this one is the "mostly marans" from the darkest egg, also has a rose comb? Either that or the tiniest of straight combs.

And the light-brahma egg baby! I honestly expected this one to come out paler, but nope! I can only tell it's the brahma mix because she's got feathery legs.


I put them all in with Flower's chick and the SLW that I bought to keep her company when her two bigger friends moved outside, and the chicks instantly adopted them as foster mama and big sis! The two older chicks don't seem to care, either, so I'm leaving them together for now unless I see signs of violence.

I THINK she said they came from you but I can't swear to it.
