15 weeks old yesterday, and today I heard my first rooster crow! this was the biggest blue AM, I pretty much had the feeling all along this one was a rooster. So I'm standing at the window at the sink pouring a cup of coffee, and heard this, well, I don't really know how to describe it. I thought it was a dog on the other side of the run howling at the chickens. out the door I go, only to see him rare his head back and let another one loose.

Tried to catch him doing it on video, but he's only done it one more time since and I wasn't where I could get the camera going. But YAY I have a rooster crowing!

So after that, I went in and took down the cardboard barrier I'd put up to keep them out of the nests, filled them with shavings and distributed a few golf balls. I've got to make a small feeder for some oyster shell as I'm switching the feed to flockraiser so the boys don't get stuff they don't need, and the younger hens as well.

It is such a funny sound!!!! I got Jack doing it on video, very pathetic sounding lol! He's only 8.5 weeks old. I'm worried about his age and development. Is that something I should be concerned about?
 
Robo, Why didn't you tell me my banker came and bought some goats from you! He could have brought those chicks to me! He is the one I am hatching eggs for. They are in lockdown as of today and due to hatch on Friday! Now I may never get them because GAchickennewbie will fall in love with them and probably won't bring them to me. hahahhahaha! To me they are just so adorable!
