YO GEORGIANS! :)

Yeah, I've never had one lay that young!  Mine were usually around 30 - 35 weeks.  And then there was the Silkie who didn't lay until she was 50 weeks old!  Yes, that is two weeks shy of a year!  And then she laid for 2 weeks, went broody, hatched eggs and then got killed by the bear!

My EE started at 21 weeks... my Polish at 1 year. We called her decoration for the first year because she sure wasn't contributing!

mine started laying at 17 weeks.

did you sell all your baby goats? a question for you, if I wanted one or two small ones like you have, how big an area would I need fenced in?
1 little boy left. As for space, that seems to be an open ended discussion. It will depend on how much hay you want/expect to buy. (Even with browse, they will need some hay.)

Does anyone have any juvenile ducks they'd like to sell? A friend is looking for a few for her pond. Please contact me through PM if you've got anything so i can forward the info to her. Thanks.
Not a PM but ... I have ducks coming out of places ducks should never be. I can certainly stand to sell a few.

Ok. Hatch is finished. Terrible again. And again in my new incubator! I have three gauges in there! Apparently they are all wrong. Of the 16 eggs, only 8 hatched. I candled them and it seems like the air sacks were only as big as if they were about 10 days into incubation! So, my humidity must have been running too high. I thought I was keeping it at 35-45, but according to the brand new hygrometer I just got today, it may have really been at 50% or more! Bummer! These were my bankers chicks! And, to top that off, the last one out appears to only have one eye!

I did the temperature test on the new thermometer and it is right on. I am now running the test for humidity, but that takes 8 hours, so I will know tomorrow and then I will use it. I had started those Lav Am eggs a few days ago and I don't want to mess them up!

Does anyone recommend a really really reliable temp/hygrometer? I own about 4 now. (not counting my new one!) And, they are all a pile of chicken poop!

She is wanting something that would be very self reliant as these will be in her pond in the woods behind her house. I am thinking muscovies or something else along those lines. Whatcha got?

yeah I would expect to have to buy some hay, I'm just wondering if I wanted one or two of the mini's like you have, would somewhere between a 1/4 - 1/2 acre fenced in with a run in shed be big enough? I don't necessarily want a boy and a girl.....and this isn't something I'm doing soon, but I would like to plan for the future

Here are a few things to do to encourage them to serve you faithfully, beginning at 17 wks.
               1. Buy them all the mealworm steaks they want.
               2. Let them shop at the Free Range Outlets all day.
               3. Bring home fresh tomatoes every evening.

                              Just joking!
