YO GEORGIANS! :)

May I suggest Red Stars? They produce a lot of eggs and mine has a very loving personality!

Buff Orpingtons are another breed that are highly thought of.

I am actually looking for some buffs now.. I am going to put on craigslist that I am selling/trading game hens for cash/laying hens later today. Hopefully I can get some more layers or possibly pullet layers. My neighbor has a few of them as well as a few different breeds but he doesn't have a rooster.. :/ I would have just swapped eggs with him, but that is out..

Also, I noticed the comb appears to have been cut off on 2/3 RIR hens I purchased.. I googled it and read it was to keep them from getting sick? Is this correct, should I be worried?

Hi all! Been insanely busy lately, DH has been out of town but gets back tonight. Been trying to plan how to keep the chickens cool while we're back home in Illinois. They're just not cooperating with me! The ninnies can/won't figure out the frozen treats/mister/fans/shade cloth are for them! Thank goodness we have a sitter staying here, and I'm putting the mister on a timer on the off chance they'll figure it out.
I've been messing around in my garden, but not much work to do now. Bush beans are in!
Hey Flower, I've included pics of Baymax and Pepper. Pepper is such a little freak, she cracks me up! And Baymax is one handsome guy. I'm still in love with his coloring!

The BFF is coming over today. SHe is going to nurse her sadness over a very messy break-up by doing some hard labor here on the property with me. We will be taking the nasty, flooded, holey cover of the pool today so that we can have the pool company come out and replace all of our equipment this week. that means POOL TIME will be happening very soon.

She is also going to help me with the run a bit. At least help me get it started. DH can help me finish it. I am also excited for her to meet the Golden Girls and Stanley. ANd see the other babies that are in the brooder.
