GOT OUR FIRST EGG!! Of course, It was from our smallest bantam chicken, Batman, Who was the mystery-chick, but who I'm pretty sure now is just a poor quality D'Uccle. But WHO CARES! EGGS!

Hahahahaha # that's the best getting an egg and it coming from a mystery chick.
Yay! My little frizzle EE finally laid her first egg! I love the color!

Right?? I originally got her thinking she was a silkie, she had black feet/beak, feathered legs, and was in the bantam bin at TSC. But on closer inspection when i got home she only had four toes instead of five and I knew she couldn't be a silkie, so the research began! Through process of elimination we decided she was either a bantam EE mix with feather legs, or a black d'uccle with poor leg feathering. It all depended on the egg color. Tinted meant d'uccle, blue/green/pink meant bantam EE! The egg is a lovely cream tint, so d'uccle! It's been so fun trying to figure out what she was!

while we were on vacation last week, the daughters alternated coming to the house and checking things. The youngest doesn't have any chickens so we told her keep what eggs she gathered, I think she got 6, 2 a day for 3 days. Anyway, because of that, yesterday we filled our first dozen:

and this morning, I'm having my first breakfast, fresh eggs and home grown tomatoes! YAY.......
