are you advertising on craigslist? I buy and sell a lot on craigslist, it can be a good thingpfft, but SILKIES!!!
yeah I have them all on craigslist, haven't had much luck :/are you advertising on craigslist? I buy and sell a lot on craigslist, it can be a good thing
the people who bought them, said their AM's didn't lay until they were almost 8 months old.............there were a few other things they said that made me wonder, but that one had me scratching my head for sure. I instantly thought of yours and mine and it just made me go 'hmmmmmm'
mine are 22 weeks now, thinking yours are what 2-3 weeks older than mine? we should be getting close for sure
yeah I have them all on craigslist, haven't had much luck :/
what feed are you giving the girls? It should be layer or if not then they need oyster shell for the calcium to make the eggs shells hard.I hope I am posting correctly. Please forgive me if I am not
I have a 21 month old Buff Orpington who just laid her first soft egg ever last today. Today she is just sitting in the nesting box and gripes at me when I try to move her. I know soft, rubbery eggs can be normal. I live in the metro Atlanta area, and we have had consistent 90 degree plus weather every day. I was hoping someone could let me know if I should be worried or if there is anything proactive I need to do. These are my first chickie ladies - I have three in all, and am still trying to figure everything out! Thanks so much in advance for any help you can lend!
I just left my local feed n seed and they had some pretty cool chicks! Two Huge GORGEOUS Lavender Orp roosters, light Brahma chicks, wellsummer chicks (@Papa_Chaz, weren't you looking for some dark brown layers?) AND salmon fallvores chicks! Which I'm sure I'm miss-spelling.
Usually chicks go very quickly, and they order pullets only (which as we all know doesn't mean you wont get the occasional roo, but it's better chances) I'm tempted by the SF, but I think my boyfriend will kill me....
It's Standard Feed And Seed off Gresham just off the exit from highway 20, in Atlanta, if anyone's interested. They're already closed for the evening, but will be open early in the AM.
Eight months doesn't sound far-fetched to me. I don't know about AM in particular, but non-hatchery stock of most any breed will generally lay later than hatchery stock. This is true for Brahmas for sure. Also depends on the time of year they come of age too IMO.
See, I don't have time to try to sell roosters. I give almost all mine away, unless it's just one that I'm not stretching to house and feed. When I have boys in bulk, it's a free-for-all. It's SO much easier!
Yes but I don't want chicks. I want at or close to POL, yes I realize I'll pay more. I'm tired of chickens that aren't paying their rent!!!
