YO GEORGIANS! :)

I came home to find that my Croad Langshan was crouched in the doorway of the coop. I tried to move her with a nudge, but she wasn't having it. I ended up having to pick her up and took her into the 'infirmary' in the garage. Will have to check her tomorrow. There was also a shell less egg in the nest. Wonder if it was hers and she is having trouble. The sad thing, too, is that she was parked out under the roost and had poop all over her! Will have to give her a good bath tomorrow and try to find out what is going on.

Yup! I feel ya on that one! The BOs are at 22 weeks on Wednesday. Only Blanche looks close, she's real red in the face, etc. the other 2 aren't nearly close. I suspect they're not getting enough light. No squatting yet, no interest in the nest boxes.

Stanley on the other hand, he's a different story. LOL He's ready to roll and they can't be bothered. He's pretty invisible right now. Too bad he can't lay an egg!

I know! !! My CCL Roo is acting the same way....no squatting but lots of dancing!!

No, you can't wash the blue off the shell! There are only two egg shell colors. White and blue. That is the base color of the shell. All other colored eggs are the pigments added to either white or blue shells. It is, however, probable that the base color of blue can get a tad fainter in color.
yes dear, we've covered that already, LOL that was that conversation I was having couple of days ago on facebook......

and yes the colors can fade as the chemical production that creates the pigments gets low. I also read that the original blue eggs were caused by some sort of virus, and they actually bred the chickens (auraucanas) to keep that trait. If you believe everything you can find on the internet anyway

that doesn't sound good at all. hopefully nothing serious.

I've been giving mine yogurt the last two days, and added ACV to their water today. A couple have had a bad case of the runs. I know they have fresh clean water, I just filled it. Fresh bag of food added 2 days ago, no mold or anything in it. I wonder if it's the heat partly to blame. I did get a new shade tarp over part of the run saturday, although they're in the shade most of the day already

Good luck with helping her feel better soon.

I'm not OPPOSED to other's opinions, as long as they're not completely clueless on what they say

and of course as long as their opinion agrees with mine

I guess I meant, shared experiences. Lord only knows, opinions, if they differ, can get us in trouble if we're not careful, and I'll try not to disagree with yours, Papa Chaz
