YO GEORGIANS! :)

Pappa if I remember right you had cows, I have the opportunity to get a Jersey heifer, What do you think? She maybe prego and this would be her 3rd calf. I know the present owner and know the cow.

I know! !! My CCL Roo is acting the same way....no squatting but lots of dancing!!

He's cracking me up! It's really funny. I find his mood swings amusing, too. One minute he's crabby and the next, he can't stand it if I leave the chicken yard to go get stuff from the house. He stands at the gate and crows til I return, or he paces at the fence line watching. So funny.

Me? No cows here, we had cows when i was a kid, but as an adult I've never had cows.

Good deal if she's prego, soinds like you might have found you a BOGO cow deal

She died last night. Not sure what happened. Her comb was a healthy bright red, too, so I am thinking that it was a sudden thing. We had a huge storm yesterday and things got blown around. She could have gotten hurt, scared (to death) or she could have been bitten by a copperhead or she could have been egg bound. Just not sure. No, I didn't autopsy her. Had appointments this morning so we just buried her.

So sorry for your loss. Tough not to know what happened, I know.

no it didn't come back guess cause of the storms earlier, barn yard sure is quiet without the girl yelling "come back" if you want guineas get only males wow was that girl non-stop but I do want another one, kinda miss the annoyance. but I am still on vermin duty

katsdar, I hope you get the vermin. I dread the day something happens to one of mine. My coop and run have only been in use for 3 mos., and no problems, yet. I know we have coyotes. Maybe they just haven't discovered my chickens, yet. So sorry about your hen.

Here is an update on the Avian Flu. Apparently it is too hot in GA right now for us to have any problems, but come fall, we may be in for trouble. I am worried because we have a lake and get lots of migratory geese, ospreys, and other waterfowl. They are the worst that will carry the Avian Flu. My ducks go to the lake every day and then house with chickens. Ugh! It will be a worry!

Thank you for the update and wishing for good luck for all of our birds to be spared. I really had not done any research, and didn't realize the A1 Flu was that deadly.

Yikes!!!! That's not good. We live about 200 yards from the inter coastal water way but we don't normally see migratory birds.....so I am praying it goes well
