I can feel the love, it is so over whelming.
Like I said, I have to troll her over this. I've just told her that the blue egg gene rooster and the brown egg gene hens will give me chickens that will lay green/dark green/olive colored eggs. If there's anyone around the Kennesaw area that heard the explosion, I can tell you that was probably her head...........

wooHOO I got 2 today myself! another one finally paying rent! I gathered 7 eggs today from 9 hens! I just wish one more of the white ones had actually been a leghorn.... isn't this a pretty dozen! oh, and let me know ahead of time if you're gonna fire up the bator, I may bring a mix over and see what kind of OE's I'll get from these brown egg layers and the AM rooster
Very nice! And you don't have to wait for me.. Bring eggs any time and I'll fire her up for ya. It's be fun to do a little practice run before the Holidays :p

Can you tell me what a white egg gene and a green egg gene will make???? A lighter green I hope/guess?

I have no idea...........LOL

I'd bet that Flower or carcar can tell us though

I do believe if it was a white and a brown you'd get a pink egg layer......one of my australorps eggs almost has a pink tint to it some days

I'm wondering if they'd be fertile yet, with the rooster being young. Although he is mounting. I haven't seen him mount any of the ameraucanas, just the white ones, and the australorps. At least he's not racist

Not sure how to tell if they're fertile, I guess I need to do some studying on what to look for when I crack em open

a white ring/dot bull eyes type of thing

Yep all yolks have a white dot.. Fertile ones have a halo around it. Get out your glasses or mag glass though, old timer, bc even my super-YOUNG eyes have a time making it out some days. :lau

Cracking in a clear glass bowl is best, in case the yolk lands dot-down. Because I still haven't found a graceful way to flip a raw egg and keep it intact. ;)

Here's an internet photo for example:

And here's one of my own AM eggs. Which does appear fertile. Which in no way tempts me to incubate them.
