YO GEORGIANS! :)

Well dang it. I have a sick AM.

Left to go to a friend's house earlier (around 3:30).. Since my original plan was to be home all afternoon I had let the AM out. Didn't see them ANYWHERE when we left and they wouldn't come when I called them (read something a while back where someone said AM stick close to home when free? Pshah!!) so I had to leave them. Hubby doesn't take kindly to me chasing after chickens when he's in the truck ready to go. :gig

Anyway. Got home a bit ago and there all home but one was laying down inside the run while all the others were eating nearby. Hubby walked over and looked and said she was just bathing.

I went out after coming inside and the rest of the flock had moved to another part of the yard and she was now puffed up, standing just outside the run alone. I caught her up (with which your roo, Papa, was MOST displeased) and looked her over. No wounds but her crop is small and very firm.

I have nothing to stick down her throat to get water or oil down and have fought tht fight with far calmer breeds without success. I have no idea what she's gotten into but the rest are 100% normal. :/

I've got Rose quarantined with some crop issues right now. I couldn't get water or oil in with a syringe or dropper because she fought me so hard. The only thing that worked was a small dish of yogurt and I doused it with olive oil. She went right for it and ate until the dish was clean. Maybe try that and see? If she hadn't eaten a big wad of paper towel after that(totally my fault), she'd probably be back with the others right now. Whatever you do, I do hope she gets better real soon!

Thanks. I hope your girl is ok too! Yeah sometimes depending on the bird it's less stress on them to not help too much. My AMA must not be like others, they are the flightiest breed I've ever seen and they have NO use for me or my pleads to come home for treats! LOL

Yup. Rose is the escape artist. She doesn't like being confined, but it's for her own good. She's pooing, that's all I care about. Her crop feels like a huge water balloon though. I got the giant wad of whatever to move out of the crop yesterday, but now I have no idea where it is or if it has even broken up. I'm judging by the size of the "balloon" after it moving means it has not. So now we watch...
