YO GEORGIANS! :)

Are your chickens red faced?  (Wattles and combs red)?  Do they squat when your go to pet them?  I have had so many chickens and the average of mine starting eggs has been in the 30+ week age.  Send us some photos of your chickens faces and lets see how close they are to laying?

Yes one is very red raced and she still does not squat at all. Theb the other that's the dominate hen is still kinda pinkish, she as well does not squat.

Sorry for the last blurry picture.

So I went in there and had forcefully put my hand on their backs and held them there....then they eventually submitted and squatted!!!!!! Does this mean good news???? I don't want to get my hopes up if not. Lol!!!

I would say they are getting close but then go by what Flower tells you, but I'd say 2/3 weeks, now we will wait and see if Flower concurs.

I'm sure this won't help, but I have a barred rock that has been squatting for 10months and has yet to lay an egg. She is now 16 months old. She may never lay but we're gonna keep her.

Wow!!!! I'm sorry. Maybe she is just going to be a late layer....I can't have that with my girls. I will have to get rid of them if they dont.....

Hello yall! I haven't posted here in awhile...

I'm in the Barrow, Gwinnett, Hall, Jackson Co area....kind of right smack dab between these 4 counties.

I'm looking for some chicks, say about 3-4 wks old, in that range...up to about 8 wks old or so.

I lost 5 birds to a dog....my own dog, sadly, last Saturday. The kicker, my dog then died on Wednesday we think heart failure or something. Needless to say my week has been horrible.

Most women go shopping, aka "retail therapy", to help them in tough times. I'm giving myself some "chicken therapy", to help me get through this.

I'm not looking for a whole bunch of birds, maybe 3 or 4. Preferably sexed, girls only, and child-friendly breeds.

The ones that I lost were Ameraucauna, Chocolate Orpington, Wheaten Marans and Serama roo and hen. All but the Serama were about 8wks old, my Serama were about 2 yrs old. Luckily, I got 3 babies that just hatched that came from my Serama roo. The two hens sitting on those eggs were safely inside my home with their eggs, so I've still got those two girls and the 3 new chicks.

If anyone has anything please let me know. I can't pay too much $ per bird...I'd just put all my extra spending $ into those birds when I'd gotten them just 5 wks sooner.

I'm still fairly new to chickens, my first birds were Serama, that I'd gotten from "Grandpa Jack", he got me loving these amazing creatures! Now, I'm hooked!
Thank you all...

Hey, my daughters Seramas were like any other chickens and laid eggs around 20 - 25 weeks. She did say that they go broody every 5 seconds and unlike regular chickens, they have many mini molts a year.
Thank you! I will let my daughter know what you said about Seramas. I have another question for you. I have a hen from some of the hatching eggs I got from you back in April that has little white heart shaped spots on her. She is beautiful. Is that a Swedish Flower trait? I will try to get a picture of her and show you.
