YO GEORGIANS! :)

I have a dilemma. I have a beautiful purebred Swedish Flower rooster who is getting into the nests and (we think) is knocking the eggs out to the hens below. We have never caught him knocking them down, but I have seen him run to the nest after the egg song and I have caught him in the nests. DH is really wanting me to sell him! Does anyone want to buy my Swedish Flower rooster? I may have to ask Feathersaloft for some SF hatching eggs next spring and get some more SFs! Such beautiful and rare birds!

I also have some hens who are 2 years + that I think I want to sell. How much do you think I should ask for them?

I also have a few young (just started laying) hens who I really like, but they are hopping over the fence everyday! They are eating all my flowers and plants. (Not good for renting the house as a vacation rental!) There are two in particular that are Polish mixes and therefore have those slender bodies that allow them to hop over. I tried clipping their wings, but these aren't even flying.....just jumping over. I may have to sell them, too.

If you are interested in any of these chickens, please let me know! Thanks.

This is Thelma. She is a Polish mix and has just laid her third egg. It is a light brown. She is a really sweet hen, but she like to hop over my fence. If you have an area where she can free range and would like to buy her, please PM me. I have another one just like her but younger who also hops over the fence.

This is Dillion. He is a sweet purebred Swedish Flower rooster.

Well I have had an interesting nerve racking day, DH is recovering from an appendectomy brought him in the am and we are spending the night, wow so glad this day is winding down.

How's he recovering? How are you holding up? Prayers for both of you!

Yes!! I ended up with these bc i saw a tiny little hen up for auction at Newnan in February and I immediately found eggs to order!

Ok, good. So I'm not the crazy chicken lady. Yet. I already want to get my hands on a pair of Ayam Cemani, just because of my history of hanging with the goth/punk crowd in my 20s. I've already got names in mind. ( see what I did there? justification) Really, I just need to have ammo for when my friends who don't have them call me "the crazy chicken lady".

Not that it's a bad thing, but it immediately calls to mind those hilarious Kids In The Hall sketches.

We are nothing like that! And, WHERE IN NEWNAN? I'm 8 miles from downtown, how did I miss that?

Hi katiedarling,
I always thought I wanted a log cabin, all the trimmings, of course, all wood. We have a friend who built one. Not a piece of sheetrock in one room! She loved it for a couple of years and then got tired of the "sameness" throughout. I love mix and match, no matter what styles are mixed and matched. Hope you get your way!!

Omg. "sameness". That's the perfect word. Describes what I'm feeling exactly! Thank God the knotty pine is mostly downstairs. The Kitchen, MBR & downstairs bathroom have sheet rock. Most of upstairs is normal too, with the exception of the TV room, aka the "man cave". More knotty pine. If it was the whole house, I think I'd shoot myself. I feel like Jessica Lange's character in the season finale of AHS Coven. Where she dies and goes to hell and it's a teeny lake house with all knotty pine walls for the rest of eternity.

@GAchickennewbie has lit a fire under my butt with the mere mention of painting. Now, I'm just stressing about how to go about it. I imagine that painting all this wood will be more daunting than what I'm used to. Like when we refinished the kitchen & bathroom cabinets. Which were the same color as the wood counter tops, that match the wood walls that are only slightly different than the wood floors. So, you get the picture... Probably the same realization your friend had after the fact.

I'm even second guessing my decision to go sunshine yellow in the kitchen. I think I'm just bored. And when I get bored, I do crazy things like dye my hair pink or suddenly decide to paint something at 11 o'clock at night for no good reason at all.

Thank you all for the well wishes, DH is doing much better and moving better, and can go to the bathroom by himself and I actually took a much needed nap today. this is the first time he has ever had any type of surgery so needless to say what a shock to me and to him.

so the chicken didn't make it to the vet today called and I am taking him in tomorrow, they squeezed me. so when I know about his foot I will let you know.

No idea how much to sell them for, at the very least 10 per bird.

Hello Georgia,

I am about two miles from the Georgia line (Florida side). Am I still eligible for the Georgia thread?
