I saw some sale post for "yellow buffs" I thought buff was referring to the "yellow" color anyways. Am I off on that?
could be Buff Brahmas?

I believe the guy doesn't know what he has. Some people just go by what others tell them when they get them and do not research them. Yellow is a color and Buff is a color; neither is a breed. So far as I know there is no breed of chicken officially called Yellow Buff. Most likely it is either a Buff Orpington or a Buff Rock. Rocks have yellow legs, Orpingtons have whitish-pink legs. I saw an add once for Turkens (Naked Necks) and the guy was advertising them as a rare cross between a turkey and a chicken! DUMB! Anyway, I just had to write to him and tell him that was not true. Just couldn't let it go......I'm like that. LOL These look like buff orpingtons to me.
It's fun, isn't it! I love getting funky large eggs. It is very typical for newbie egg layers to have eggs like this. They eventually get their systems regulated and will give you 'normal' eggs.
