How many of you raise mealworms? I just got some today. I don't have more wheat bran on hand (supply store will be open tomorrow). The worms came with a good little bit. I have read you can use some wheat germ as well? I was trying to avoid buying more expensive wheat bran at Walmart or grocery store. Thanks in advance for the help.

I have some. When I'm low on wheat bran sometimes you can throw rolled oats into a blender to make bedding/food.

GAM has apparently started raising them.  I haven't seen them yet but she has been talking about having to thin them out.  (Either sell them or feed them to birds)  So I guess she's doing something right. (I guess everybody is good at something)

I just won an auction on 2 dozen Barred Rock hatching eggs that I really didn't plan on winning. I knew I would get outbid, or Not! Really hadn't planned on cranking up the incubators for a few more weeks!

I give them bread and potatoes. They have a deep bed of wheat bran then I just lay a slice of bread or two on the surface from time to time. The potatoes are for moisture. I have used other bedding but they like the wheat best.

Also have a couple of pieces of lightly crumpled newspaper in each container. They like to hide in it and eventually eat it, too.



Carcar ... to feed or to start farming?
