YO GEORGIANS! :)

Of the styrofoam incubators, I have found the Hova-Bator to be better than the LG. It holds temp and humidity more evenly/consistently than the LG. It isn't a huge difference but it is real. I've run the two different units side-by-side in hatching at home and in the schools that I do the classes in.
I love my Brinsea, I have the octagon 20 Eco, I didn't get the bells and whistles but I tried one of those Styrofoam ones and gave it away, with the promise of a trade in the spring I didn't have any luck with it, I'm sure it was just me, but I couldn't get the humidity/temp right
I'm looking at this one (1588 Hova-bator Incubator PLUS 1611 Automatic Egg Turner) that hold 41 eggs for $169.99

And this one (Brinsea Octagon 20 Advance) that hold 24 eggs at $359.99.

I've read good reviews on both and prefer to spend for the Hova-bator but not if there is a huge difference in performance.
My 20 hens are laying between 14-19 eggs/day and I think now would be a good time for me to start trying to hatch some chicks.

Please give me the pros and cons of each as I would rather hear from you folks that actually do this.
Thanks

I have two of the Hova-bator 1588s and love them. They have great viewing windows, It's all digital and has deep sides so the chicks don't fall out and I think they work great. I don't use the wells in the bottom of the incubator for water though. It just puts in too much humidity. So, I bought some of those little plastic rectangle baby foods and cut out a rectangle in the cover. I fill it up with water and if I have too much humidity I just put a piece of tape over part of the hole I cut. That way, I can control the humidity really well.

If I had all the money in the world I would get one of these!

But, you can also make your own!

And, before you laugh at this, I posted a similar post on incubators anonymous with this idea, and dog gone if someone is trying it. The last I read, it was working!!! I will have to go back and see if he has updated his results!

LOL, flower.. Don't forget the times I've used a heating pad and damp rags in a pinch! Nice to have more automation though.

I do remember that!

Papa, I'm having the same problem.
My egg customers keep wanting more and more, to where I had to tell Dani no when she asked for an egg for breakfast.
And my AMs have totally stopped laying. They sure do eat though!
well, I'm gonna eat some when I want them, LOL we had breakfast for lunch today, then I got a text from a customer, 'do you have any eggs'.....I was one short of a full dozen, went out to the coop and low and behold one of my leghorn girls had helped me out, LOL so I texted her back we had a dozen.

on another note, We got new fuzzy butts!
