YO GEORGIANS! :)

We are really thinking about getting a room and spending the weekend in Newnan. I bet there's stuff to do in that little town for a day. I could always go look at PJ trailers while I'm there.

If it wouldn't mean driving myself down, I might go for the weekend too. But it would cost me more in gas than for the hotel room.
Darn Suburban!

Will I have or create a problem adding another rooster to my flock. I have 20 hens and one Buff Orpington rooster. I would like to add another BO roo. Rochester is 9 months old and I would like to add another about his age.
I hope some of you folks chime in. I ordered an incubator today and would like to have a better chance of getting fertile eggs.

Thanks!

Depends. We've had roosters settle right in with the flock and we've had some that just would not stop fighting. Sometimes they will work it out once dominance has been established and then other times they just won't quit til one is dead (or close to it) or one gives up and runs away.

We have a lot of roosters given to us and we throw them out in the pasture for them to figure it out and there have been the aforementioned mixed results.

If I was going to get a new rooster to help with the hens, I would get a young one that isn't old enough to threaten the current rooster. In most cases, roosters that grow up together will get along fine.

So....smarty britches..... About that Newnan show. I don't see anything but entry fees. This leads me to assume people just going to browse get in free. I am considering getting one of those rooms for $45 and staying the night and checking out the area one day and doing the chicken show the other day.
We could invade the town, get a group together

This is Flower's husband. Once again I will give you an update as to my quest to find the cure for "Chickenitis!" So far, the CDC has not been able to create the cure for all of you possessed with this disease. Symptoms are not being able to count how many chickens you have and sitting around talking about chickens all day or worse, posting on this chicken forum and thinking you have to have one of every chicken on earth.
As Flower is down stairs, yes I am running a special on Flower's chickens. 2 for one till she comes back up. Cash talks.

It's like the Doritos company they will make more!!! and you can't have just one.

You could ride down with us, or if my DH decides he doesn't want to go then we could share a room, and blow all of our DH's money on chickens~!!!! oh I bet they wouldn't leave us alone again

I agree with Robo (things I never thought I'd say #A1). Add a young cockerel that won't be a threat. However once he's old enough to mate he may be deterred by the current boy. Just no way to tell. But it sounds like there are plenty of girls to where there shouldn't be too much fuss. :)

I agree with Robo

It truly is a dark day.
