Thanks for that info. They order from Mt.Healthy hatchery in case anyone wants to go to their site and see what they have. I have 3 SLW I bought there last Spring and none look like each other. We got a barred rock and it turned out to be a Black Australorp so be sure you are getting what you want and don't allow any of the young people to pick for you because most have no clue what chick is what certain breed. Forgot to mention, their Aracanas are Easter Eggers.

well this certainly makes me think I won't be going there to pick up any chicks......and of course since I have 23 right now, I have to have MORE

well, I'll be hatching some ameraucanas if the girls continue to do their thing and lay enough to fire up the incubator.

I am always sad when I have to take the babies away from a mama hen, but we decided to do that today. I know I won't be keeping the chicks and I like to handle them before I sell them so they aren't wild. And, I also want Mama hen to get back to laying ASAP (which usually takes a few weeks). Found her tonight sitting next to the 2 broody hens sitting on eggs in the coop. I won't be surprised if I find her trying to take over the eggs from one of them!

I'm wondering if that is the only hatchery they order from.
Someone on a fb group just showed me pics of the Araucanas she got there a year or so ago, and they are rumpless and tufted.
Shocked the heck out of me!

I've seen some hatcheries have photos of true Araucanas included in their 'Easter Egger' section. I think some hatcheries actually use true Araucanas and Ameraucanas to help make their Easter Eggers. But, most are mixes of these two breeds with other breeds, which is what gives them the variety of EEs that we come to expect. I love EEs!

Oh, I agree. But this person showed me a pic and says it was what the one she bought looked like. Looked kind of like a stock photo to me, but she was going to send pics of the offspring tomorrow.

But I did see that the hatchery has Speckled Sussex, and shipping is fairly cheap with them. UGH! Think hubby would notice just 10 or 15 more???

Woohoo!! Had my first three-egg day from my little bantams today. I can't imagine how excited I'll be when all nine are laying! ;)

They sometimes hatch eggs from their own flock and put them in for sale as well. I know they hatch their own Guineas sometimes and sell the babies. Last time they had lavender guineas from their home flock and some of the cats running around there got in and got most of them and they only had 1 left. Yet they still didn't close the tops on the cages after that. I have only ever seen stacks of Mt. Healthy boxes but they may be getting some from local people as well. They use to have a lady in Taylorsville that stocked them with chicks. Here is a pic I took of the Aracaunas they had left last spring from Mt. Healthy.
