YO GEORGIANS! :)

Well you all I needed practice candling the green egg hatched today , so much for tem more days . Do I leave it in for 24 hr can I put a paper towel in so its feet dont get stuck in the screen . By the way this is to cool .

YO GEORGIANS! Does anyone have a lead on JG or Brahma chicks or POL pullets? I have too many bantams and i need some real eggs. I also have a hawk problem and need something bigger than a hawk can tote off.

totally adictive!

I'm certainly no expert, but some specific things to look for when candling are development of the chick and how big the air cell is, the bigger the air cell the closer you are to hatch. That's why you'll see a lot of people draw the air cell on the shell, to help keep up with it. :)

unless the screen is real big squares, you don't usually have to worry about them getting their feet stuck. I've seen several talk about putting paper towels in though to help keep from being so messy and making clean up easier

Papa 35% is where I usually live until lockdown.
that's what I'm shooting for. So with cutting the side out of a spice bottle, laying it down like a trough and filling it with water, it's reading just under 60%. looks like I'm going to have to duct tape over part of the opening I made and cut down the surface area of the water a little bit.

will let y'all know how it goes :)

Just throwing it out there but I got enough to do around my place to keep several retired guys busy. Feel free to fill your spare time there.

LOL, I have plenty of chores of my own........BUT, if you ever do need an exra set of hands to help with something specific, feel free to let me know. It's always more fun helping others than doing my own chores

My first hatch (of the year) of 42 eggs is now on lockdown as of today! Now we wait and hope for a good hatch!

Good luck Eric!
I put my first eggs ever last Sunday in an incubator I made last week. I knew I would find a reason for enlarging the utility room when we built the house.
The big english guy has joined the troop and he looks kind of strange when coming across the pasture with the rest of the flock.

Yea, it funny how things work that way.
My wife's been in Texas barrel racing for the past week and I'm beginning to think I don't appreciate her enough speaking of chores!

I'll be getting some chicks next week and have a hatch this weekend with no plans to keep all of them. If I have extras maybe I can bring them to the swap? No JG from me, but one of the eggs is I think a brahma/RIR mix.
