HAHA! I am sure no matter what you wear you will feel overdressed once you see some of the folks there.

They use to have some of those lights on the pet isle but Walmart likes to make you look for stuff. HA! Medicine on the medicine isle? NO! Look in the garden center! HAHA!

When we were canning over the summer I had to go pick up some stuff and they were out. Turns out they keep some of the canning stuff in 3 different places in the store.

Okay. Nobody fret, I made it thru Walmart and got my lamp.. Didn't notice any flashbulbs going off so I think I'm safe.

Now fighting the crowd at Bojangles. I think we're just out looking for punishment today.

Got to the end of the driveway earlier when we were leaving.. Saw one of the stray dogs that's been wandering around and remembered my Brahmas were out. Sigh.

Back down the driveway.. Conveniently they're much like dogs, lol. Which is why they get free ranging privileges.

Speaking of dogs.. @PapaChaz I REALLY would love you to call AC on the green house at the end of my road. Look when you go by tomorrow.. The poor bully-breed pup on a chain at the front porch.. A very heavy chain, which also has twisted upon itself so much that it's not more than 5' long now, and even heavier.

These people literally have to STEP OVER THE DOG to get into their house. And are too sorry to help him out or give him up.

I mentioned calling and my son said, "are you gonna call on EVERY DOG you see!?"

Well.. I'm about to lose my restraint on this one.

Ok would appreciate some input / help. The chicken I rescued has been in isolation now going on 8 weeks and am not sure of my options, but know they are running out. Had taken her to the vet, and was told parasites and given antibiotics which I gave her, orally for ten days. She has a pasty vent, she had some bleeding around the vent, have been cleaning her daily, put antibiotics spray on her vent. The bleeding stopped, she has scabs now. Have given her ACV since, yogurt, greens, oats, applesauce etc. But she continues to have trouble expelling her poo, it is greenish in color, stinks and not runny but not dry. Seems like she cannot get her poo to completely discharge, and don't know if paying for another vet bill is worth it, and trying to figure out if anything else I can do. She eats and drinks normal, she just can't expel her chicken poop right. So does anyone have suggestions or idea, anyone ? Just checked her again, caked poop around her vent, reddish color on her but ( not bleeding) Nd still some good scabs. Trying to save her but options are running out. Appreciate input Thanks

@katsdar , how are your Brahma babies doing/looking? What split do you think you have? I keep meaning to ask you..

The two are really big, but I need to take a pic of Goliath. All are doing well and I like your idea of splitting the brooder tank. Cause I right now have put all birds in one and worry about the bantams being so small, but they seem to stay closer to the heat as the others well they have more feathers so that is I'm sure why they stay to the middle other end.

Heat Lamps: I've used one from the start. I have always been very cautious with them and have seen the horrible nightmares of fires and loss when problems come up. I also have the Brinsea chick heater. I love the area range you get from heat lamps with the ability to see all of the chicks and how they are doing. The other day was my first close call with my heat lamp. I checked it the bulb was secure (no I did not over tighten) and set it up in my big brooder pen with all of the shavings. God was watching over his little fool because while I was setting up the feed trough the HOT bulb fell out of its metal collar and into the shavings with an added red ember hitting to. Thankfully I was there and scooped it out of the bedding and put my Girl Scout fire safety training in to action and then unplugged it all. I kept going back to check everything to make sure that I did not miss anything, a pretty big scare sad as now I worry about setting a new one back up or getting a second Brinsea unit.

A few years back I had a wooden brooder on the back porch any way DH heard a pop and checked on the babies only to see fire, poor babies were at the other end huddled up, I ran to get the fire extingusher ABC and started to put the fire out, needless to say I sprayed the chicks and DH said what your battering them now, but we had a good ending, ABC extingushiers don't hurt chicks, and you just have to dust them off. Didn't loose any. needles to say no wooden brooders on the back porch anymore, no wooden brooders period. I'd go with the second Brinsea unit love mine. Sorry for the miss spellings, word check is not working for me today.

I don't know if this is a good thing and some may yell at me, I put desitin the baby butt stuff on the birds, it protects and makes pasty butt easier to clean, yep I put it on my babies butts, so if it doesn't hurt the babies I'd put a good coating on the big butt. Keep us posted.

I even went and got some Big Ole Bird which is a Probiotics and put that in her water for four days. The ointment seems to help but poo still clumps up on her vent and daily cleaning. Not sure of options and if it will improve or what to try next. Been drying it with Vetericyn daily also. Thanks

I hope this works, let me know, I like the desitin it doesn't come off as easily as vaseline or the Neo stuff, poo will need to be cleaned but it will be easy and will protect the skin and let the scabs heal, one of my babies that I got from TSC had pasty and it's little butt was so raw, oh I cut the feathers too so it is bear skin, so you might consider cleaning up the feathers a little, they so enjoy it lol, I have noticed that shipped birds are more likely to get pasty butt the shipping really must be hard on them but birds that I have gotten locally don't seem to get it or I'm just lucky

Congrats! I have one Brahma who lays a big egg. All the others I have/have had lay smaller than what you would think.
