Sweet! Love a good deal!

I picked up a cabinet incubator today. guy made it out of a wine refrigerator. He used a space heater element and fan, coming through the bottom at the back. he took out all the refrigeration parts. No turners, but I have one, which for now will suffice for me. He said he'd built 2, one for his kids, and one for a friends kids, for 4H....said they did 2 hatches each, all 4 hatches were over 80% success rate.....I'll know soon enough if that was a sales pitch or true, LOL

Fan/heater pulls air in, a few holes in the top of the sides for ventilation. He bought a digital thermostat control, Inkbird? never heard of it, but it seems to work well. He used an automatic repitile tank mister for humidity, but that didn't come with it. I'll use a tray with sponges, there's a hole in the side to run a tube in and down to it.

Currently I have the probe hanging where my hatching tray is, another thermometer on that level to check it, and one on the top shelf and in the bottom. It's circulated, but I want to know what it does at each level before I put eggs in it. I also have a couple different hygrometers in it at different levels as well....

We cleaned the inside, and I took the HW cloth off the racks. I've made one divided hatching tray, will do the other later. I want to be able to keep my eggs separate by breed, or if I hatch some for someone else....

the turner I have will fit perfectly on that top tray, the other two will be for hatching and the bottom is where I'll put the tray for the sponges.

The temp goes up to 101, then changes to 'cool' even tho there's no cooling unit, when it gets back to 99, the heater kicks back on. going to let it sit overnight and see what each level says and judge from there if it needs to be changed

so what do you think?

PapaChaz...If your inkbird is model STC-1000 you should be able to adjust the temp control to 1 degree. On at 100° off at 101° or whatever temp you decide to set. I used one of those on my first homemade bator but switched on the next one for 0.1° degree control. Off at 100°and back on at 99.9° helps to maintain a very constant temp.
Your cabinet looks really nice!! Good luck with it.

thank you! I have the booklet, I just haven't spent much time in it, looks like I need to.

ok so I've been playing with the controls, yes I have that 1 degree difference value. It goes to 101, then waits to cool back to 98.5 or so to kick the heater back on. I'm not a fan of that much of a variance personally.....

I did open the door and set a small bowl of water in the bottom by the heater/fan. I may very well make a trip back to my computer guy and buy another fan to put in it up top to give a little more push to the air....will see what how it's doing in the morning when I get up and go fro there. I do know I'll need to make a big orange box store run and get some tubing and the smallest pipe straps I can find to attach it, I want to be able to add water without opening the door once I set eggs.
