My cups keep water in them but the birds seem to prefer the nipples. Then again they have had the nipples for a year and the cups for 2 months.
These don't leak and my chickens will use them, the bottom nipples or a fountain. You can shop and fine a cheaper price.

I use them with my quail and they work fine. It may take a little training to get your chickens used to them.Ok, Has anyone tried or have experience using the water cups, in place of the nipples. As much as I have not had much luck shopping at TSC, I did purchase two packets of these water cups. Modified my piping and installed three of these units. Seems like they have a very lousy spring assembly to allow water into the cup for the chickens to drink. Seems like in checking, my chickens have not been able to get water into these cups, and the several times I checked on them the cups were dry and when I tripped the lever to allow water into the cups the chickens came running like they were dry and thirsty. I thought I would try using these, as the nipples leak or drip water and seems like I have a lot of water and wet area on the ground under them, and trying to find a solution so I don't have wet and damp ground under the nipples. Anybody have experience with the cups?
went out and cleaned my coop earlier, my OE laid her egg in the poop tray instead of the nest, and it was eaten........
I'll be keeping an eye on her. I don't know if she laid it overnight and it just looked too tempting, or if she laid there on purpose and then couldn't resist. First egg eating I've had with this bunch......they have oyster shell available, and I'm feeding 22% layer pellets. If she turns out to be a cannibal, she'll be on the smoker soon
I don't think this one was broken as it was just one side of the shell eaten and all the yolk was eaten. she lays every other day, so I know I need to check again sunday morningI had one that would get on roost and her egg would fall out and break and of course was eaten. Not sure why it happened that way and saw it once but after I saw it a few times I had to move her. It was like she didn't know to go to the nesting box and lay it.
well thanks to the pollen, I've sneezed enough to lose THAT much.........Who was it that wanted to be my diet buddy? Well, after my first day on Nutrisystems, I'm down 1.6 lbs!
Thanks for the info !
