YO GEORGIANS! :)

Robo, did you guys win the lottery or something! That's a lot of eggs!

So, remember the little NN I amputated the leg on a few days ago? Well, she is doing well so far! She got to go spend a few hours outside with her hatchmates and really enjoyed laying out in the sun! I changed her bandage tonight and things look good. But, she doesn't like her new bandage because I didn't extent it to make the peg leg. I want her to begin to use her good leg only and to learn to balance. BTW, we named her Peggy. Sweet little thing! She just gobbles up her food and drinks well. Hopefully, she will go on and live a long productive life!

Well...Miss Buffy just had to have things her way. I tried for 2 weeks to stop her from being broody. I put her in a horse stall for a week alone and that was nothing to her, locked her in a pen for a week and it was right back to the nest boxes. I finally gave her 6 eggs and she turned into a statue. I built her a brood pen, put it in the corner of the coop and put her and her eggs there on the 19th day. We heard some peeps this morning and this afternoon we saw these. I got some starter and water pushed in close and she started eating and drinking, then she made a different call and pecking the food and here they came. We've seen 5 so far.

first food
I love seeing a momma and her babies, I had to give up too, I have 2 broodies, I put water and food in with them but they won't leave the nest, maybe cause it's been cool

So, the man who brought me 4 dozen chicken eggs and 2 dozen turkey eggs to hatch for him......well, remember I said most were stored pointy side up and no telling how long he had been saving that many eggs.....He also said he didn't know they had to be turned.

I candled them tonight. Only 12 of the 24 turkey eggs are developing. And only 19 of the 48 chicken eggs have anything in them!!! I broke some open and the yokes were all scrambled! I told him as soon as I saw them that they may not hatch. I feel bad for him!

I may throw some of my own eggs in there for him for fun. I have so many eggs! Ugh. Just gave my DS 8 1/2 dozen to sell at his office. (He has regulars that buy them). Sold a dozen duck eggs today. Sold 4 dozen last Friday and still have dozens in the refrig! Just getting so many every day! CAN'T WAIT UNTIL FARMERS MARKET STARTS IN MAY!

My stepmom had two one-legged lovebirds for years. They were nest mates that got some kind of thread wrapped around their legs.

Their names were Peggy and (drumroll)...

Eileen.

Glad your baby is doing so well!!

Georgians - Anyone have Peafowl/Peacocks with your chicken flock? I'm thinking about adding one and would love to hear about shared experience. Not much utility in a peacock - but it sure does seem like it would be fun to have. If you have or have had cock's - how did they get along with your roosters?

Does anyone know where to get one locally? How much they should cost?

GAM and Robo have some. PM them.

For the locals I took a pic of the two chicken wormers they carry in Cedartown at Holland.

Thanks, TSC said they were also going to try carrying the Rooster Booster on a trial basis, but does not look like any stores in Georgia are going to be selected for the trial. But good to know can get local, and without having to go to TSC.

Wazine has like a two week egg withdrawal time, and then it says to redo it after 14-18 days, so that's like a month of throwing out eggs! The Rooster Booster has no withdrawal. I liked it a lot. I also got the Worminator that kills ALL parasites and types of worms! But, you have to use a dropper for each chicken. If you are like me and have lots of chickens, that is going to require a lot of time and chicken chasing unless of course you are smart and do it at night! Hahaha! I do have one chicken in particular who has a dirty booty that I think needs the worminator. All other chickens look good to go.
