YO GEORGIANS! :)

Before I list these on Craigslist, anyone here want them?

Bramah mix blue cockerel chick about 3weeks: free or swap for eggs or another chick

Buff silkie hen about 1 year: $20 or swap for a nice non broody hen!

Cuckoo Marans hen about 1 year, consistently lays LG egg every 1-2 days: $30 or trade for a colored egg hen that is less of a jerk.

If any of y'all want them, I can bring to the swap on the 30th or we can arrange transport I'm sure. I love both these girls, but they just don't fit well with my group.

In case anyone cares TSC now has the ability to order the new line of Purina Orgnaic feeds. Just became available this week.

Careful , make sure you look at the date of manufacturer, should be less then two months and found a lot has been around for three plus months. Recommendation is it should be used within 3 to no more then 4 months. TSC has been selling a lot of old feed.

Not sure you understood the post. If you look all over the BYC home page they are talking about the new Organic line from Purina. It has barely been available to the public for 3 months and only available to TSC since Wednesday.

Ok, need boy puppy name ideas.  We really like going with the Nordic/German Mythology names (German Shepherd puppy) but all of the ones with great stories either sound bad (Fenrir, Tyr, Ottar, etc.) or are overly used (Thor, Zeus, etc.)  Any ideas?

We were going to name the new pup Heimdall(r) but it is pronounced HAME-doll and it's just not working for us.

We have Freyja and Odin already.
Not sure it's mythological or if you've chosen a name yet, but Sascha is the Ferman form of the Russian unisex name, Sasha. It's meaning is "defender of mankind". Or Alewar? A Visigothic name meaning "guard of all"

My Barred Rock boy is finally crowing.. :) He has been looking so mature for several weeks, and so are the girls. SO hoping for lots of eggs soon! These are about 17 weeks old now.

Good point. I had the experience with my first chicks that the feed I got had been on the shelf for a while. It was 6+ months old. I was told by sales person when I went to exchange that they had 8 months to sell through before it was pulled off shelves. When I explained that the Manna Pro rep I contacted about the dating on the bag said specifically not to use anything past 6 months, her inly reaponse was, "well, thats our policy. 8 months from date of manufacture."
I never checked dates on bags until now. Not for animals, anyway. Itshoyld've occurred to me, considering I won't drunk milk that's past the date on the container. :)

I was looking at Axel, which means either "father of peace" or "my father is peace" ... then this morning I changed the wording to "... been through the desert on a horse with no name..." to "... with a dog with no name..." ... then the song "You Can Call Me Al" came into my head. This poor dog is never going to get a name. LMBO! (And I am inching closer to needing therapy)

I have officially abandoned the Norse Mythology theme. All of the names with great stories are no good for dog names and the names that are good are either over-used or have terrible stories attached to them.

I've had people asking me for BRs so keep me posted and I will send them your way when you have some.

Suh-Weet! Did the lady ever contact you that I sent your way?

So, out of eight shipped bantam frizzle Cochin eggs, two have made it to lockdown. The wrong-end air cell one ended up quitting about halfway through.

However, these two look fantastic! Day 18 and they are pressing up on the air cells which are perfectly intact/shaped. I do think I'll hatch them in a carton.

Maybe.. JUST MAYBE.. One will be a frizzle. And a cockerel, at that. Not sure I've ever HOPED for a cockerel before!

My dozen BBS Cochin eggs that came yesterday from Maine were all intact. Hubby complained via text that they were "almost completely round" and he could hardly tell which end was up, but when I got home it really wasn't that bad. Which I had hoped. They're just a bit squatty.

The air cells are completely scrambled, though, so I guess I'll not turn them the first few days and see how they shape up. :)
