I'm currently buying my internet tongue. There is an ad on a local yard sale site where a family has gotten baby chicks, and I quote, "temporarily for my daughter to feed/pet but they are needing a bigger space now so it's time to rehome them!"

Ugh! It's 1am and renters had the fire alarms go off! Smell smoke. DH had to get dressed and go check. Will let you know later if I burned up in my bed!

I need the weather to settle down and get warm enough for me to move my juvie chicks/ducks (11 in total) out. My messy buggers are causing a stink within a day after cleaning everything. I have 9 Mottled Cohin babies in another brooder and one mixed baby hatched out by an adopted Mama (crazy Lucille) out in the one of the chicken houses. If she were not crazy on a good day I would try to sneak some of the Cochiin babies under her. Spring has sprung here lol, I need some of that summer heat.

I consider it cruel if a dog has one of my chickens in it's mouth but I'm not going to talk to an LEO about it anyway so we'll just let this ride.

Thanks for the info on the broody! The chicks will go in the garage so she'll never know where they are. Do you remember how long before she started laying again?

I don't disagree with you, but it's not what you or I consider cruel or not. Just trying to pass on some info to try to help a friend avoid problems in the future, if one of those dogs gets home with a rat dhot burn or whatever and it gets teaced back to ya, there will be trouble and just trying to help avoid that. What you do after a warning is purely on you.

Again I am in total agreement, I'd much rather pump the bb gun once or twice and send a dog home yipping hoping a lesson was learned instead of killing it, but as quick as people today want to call the law and get a lawyer and sue i'll do what LEO advised me to do.

If memory serves me, took her around 3 weeks or so to start laying again
