Uncle Fester was newborn baby butt bald and could put a light bulb in his mouth and make it glow. Cousin It was the one that was all hair and did not speak....just made weird noises that the family could somehow understand.

Well I tried to get them all to get along yesterday evening. the adult RIR was a big bullie and ended up staying in her cage last night and not in the coop, the Buff was a sweet girl and couldnt care less about the younger ones so she roosted in the coop last night and is hanging out in the run today with the youngins. the 3 that are 3 months old would have done ok in the coop last night probably but they were a little pecky towards the little ones and didnt want to take the chance of losing any so they stayed the night in their cage. I will try to let them have play time again when I get home, I hang out in the run with them in case things get out of hand. The little ones are hanging out on the perch in the run and chasing flying bugs at night, when I put them in the coop at night they flip their **** and want to get back out soo bad.

day 21 on the hatch, it looks like it's about done already.

Out of 12 leghorn eggs that went into lockdown, 9 hatched. Out of 12 AM eggs that went into lockdown, 1 hatched. Same turning tray, same hatching shelf, but just one.

I am wondering if the youth of the rooster, and that he'd just started breeding as I was collecting the eggs makes a difference? All of them candled and looked good, but just didn't make it.
I've kept the humidity in the high 20s/low 30s during incubating, and bumped to mid 50s during lockdown. I know there were no clears at lockdown, and no blood rings, they just haven't hatched. The leghorns started pipping on day 19, and the one AM hatched on day 20. I have no pips, no rocking back and forth.

I'm going to leave them a couple more days, but I really don't think any more are going to hatch.....

Have you candled the AM? I would definitely think at least some more should hatch. Just doesn't sound right. I know you said you'd give more time..

I was hatching out some AMs for Goldie. Of the 10 AMs that made it to lockdown (or at least I thought they looked ok), 6 hatched. I autopsied the eggs that didn't make it. Most still had lots of yolk left so had died either right before lockdown and I couldn't see, or right after lockdown. I just don't know what happens. The humidity did get higher than I wanted it to be. They all started pipping at once, and I couldn't seem to get the humidity down!

The 12 SBEL did worse, only 4 hatched and all seemed to be fully formed when I opened them to see what happened. Never even internally pipped. Bummer hatch.

I did get 8 turkeys for another guy out of 10 that went into lockdown. Those just hatched yesterday and they already have feathers!!! Unreal!

Can't wait until everyone comes and gets their chicks. Having 40 extra chicks plus my own (30?) is a lot of chicks to feed and water!

I have just finished candling them, there are a few that are still questionable, so I put them back in. The others we cracked open. Yes still lots of yolk left, and most were tiny tiny, like they'd quit several days ago. I did candle these at day 7 instead of day 10, and didn't candle them at lockdown. The moisture inside was about what I expected really, although honestly I have no idea what to expect....

I've had another of the leghorn eggs hatch, we looked in and it was almost hatched, an hour before it wasn't even pipped, that girl wanted OUT! LOL the grand daughter stood there with me and watched the whole thing, she was just in awe! that was worth watching in and of itself! But that's 10 of 12 leghorn eggs that went into lockdown, and one of them still looks like it could do something, today is day 21, so I'll leave that one and the few AM eggs I was questioning

I also candled the other 14 eggs that are due next wed, 2 clear, 1 blood ring, the others were clearly moving and looked to be doing well.

I'm wondering if keeping the humidity at around 25-30 during incubating was too low for the AM eggs, in the foam bators, I always kept it mid 30's to 40

These girls are endless entertainment when I go get eggs.

The box beside this one is slap FULL of broody attitudes. I took the eggs from them and moved them to THIS box so I could keep feeling underneath them. This one rushes over to sit on them. This is me telling her NO, MY EGGS!!

I'm wondering if I should just give them some chicks! Would they just share them??
