YO GEORGIANS! :)

Now I'm really doubting my splash rooster.
I got some black chicks from him over black hens (all should be blue)
But then last night I saw a black hen on top of the wall between the 2 pens. Clipped her wing, but now I wonder if the blacks are truly split to lavender (the Roos on the other side of the wall)

Then today I was toe punching the ones I hatched and I noticed the black chicks have black feet and legs (not slate)
And several of the blue chicks have one or two white outer flight feathers.
Ready to toss the splash roo out and put the blue roo with what were originally his hens.

Do I wait for these chicks to grow out and see? I know my RIR don't grow their first colors in solid red, takes them a couple months to look like themselves.

Or do I write these chicks off as EE?

Happy Mother's Day everyone! No fun and rest for me today. Had to clean the house for potential renters. Two groups came in to see the house, so mopping, bed making, vacuuming, and then entertaining! I am exhausted. Dinner was left over chicken tenders son left yesterday. Nothing else, just those tenders! First group booked before they left, second group is still here.....DH showing them around the yard. Hope they will book, too.

On a nice note, son gave me his lottery ticket that had won $100! One daughter gave me a $100 Home depot gift card. Two other daughters said their gifts won't be here until later this week! I love surprises!

Chicken wise, I saw Lav AM roo with Lav AM hen!!!!! Will start collecting her eggs. Of course, other roo is in there too, but any chicks born without feathered legs will be from Lav AM. I will know who fathered what!

Have chicks due on Thursday.

Sounds like a productive day!
I figured out the Ameraucana mystery. Saw one of the blacks visit the lavender pen (sneaky wench). So the blacks are split to lavender if you have an egg marked BA from the swap that hatches out black.
Please let me know your luck with the eggs marked LA.

Still trying some diet changes to improve hatch ability on the darn lavenders, but that will take a while.

My next hatch is due Friday at Eric's, and new incubator is humming along nicely here. Can't wait to see how we end up.

I think I have one of your lavender AMs under my broody, hopefully that one will hatch too. I'll let you know!

Hi there. I am attaching a picture of a chicken palace I plan to buy from a guy in Cedartown who makes them. His website is Davids coops.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had purchased one and how you like it. Also, wondered if anyone thinks its a problem that the whole bottom is open and the roosts are just about level with where the wire starts. A little breezy?
My bird free range and I will ask the man to add hardwire to the bottom.
Would love any input.
thanks

So a made some eggs and I checked the fertility for the eggs and one of my Bramhas wasn't fertile!!! Uggg! I'm sorry to the person who took my Bramha eggs.. Only one of the few eggs were fertile so my darn jerk rooster cant even do the one job that he good at... ;-;

More than a little breezy in the winter in Blue Ridge. Need to keep the draft off them in the winter or you'll probably have frostbite.
