YO GEORGIANS! :)

What humidity do you use for setting eggs?

In the cabinet it usually stays between 43-48. In a foam incubator it would be lower. I have seen so many more hatch in the cabinet that I did in any of my foam incubators. When trying to hatch a full batch in the foam incubators I found that half would hatch and the rest would struggle and some would pip and die. I think some of it has something to do with some hatching and causing the humidity to rise so high. Each time an egg hatched the humidity would go up into the 70's or 80's. I still use the genesis to only hatch in and when I fill the proper channels with water the humidity is usually around 60%. Since it has a fan it seems to help with regulating.

Well, my latest hatch is over.  I had 24 eggs, only 17 hatched.  I was sad that the 4 SBEL did not hatch.  They were pipped internally, but never made it out.  Why is that?  Is the air sac too small and they run out of air before they can pip out?  I really really wanted one of those.  The eggs were huge and I was looking forward to huge blue eggs!  The other 3 that didn't hatch were almost totally developed except for a small yolk sac.  Almost every time I hatch, I am losing chicks around day 18-21.  It's really frustrating!  Advice, please!

Becky, I can't help with that, but let me see how this round and the next go.
I thought you had SBEL from the cookout, but it isn't time on them yet.
Eric has one or two in his incubator and I have one or two. Once we know they are fertile and viable you can come get some eggs.

Yes, I did get some of your SBEL. They are still in the incubator, but I was hoping that these that were in there from another girl would have hatched. I will just have to wait.

I'm just going to keep Rooster in the pen this evening. He being so bad and I can't stand it today.
I look at bantam Bramha roosters everyday and think about how that could be better

I can't wait for the eggs I gave out to hatch! I don't think any of the Bramha ones will Beuace he unable to get past their huge butts it seems

I have two of the light ones. What kind of chickens are those?

the lighter brown ones came from my BOs, The Golden Girls. Most likely, the BO rooster Stanley is the baby daddy. The ladies can't stand James Bond, so he gets no action. On the off chance he snuck one past Stanley, then they could be BO+ EE. A very fancy looking EE, so I hope at least one of my eggs is from James.

If anyone recognizes those eggs in your bators, the potential mixes would be:
BO+BO
BO+Marans

Less likely:
EE+BO
EE+Marans

@katsdar there is a very slight chance that I didn't mark 2 of the eggs. They would've been the 2 that were laid on the day before the bbq. I just checked my egg record.

Anyone down around Newnan want a partridge brahma cockerel? He is around 4 or 5 months old and will start crowing any day. He will let you pick him up but he doesn't like it. Just let me know and he's yours, he has to go.
