YO GEORGIANS! :)

I already have a pip in one of my 'swap' eggs!  Hatch isn't due until Sat/Sun.  It is a RIR!  Must be a boy, LOL.....they are so impatient.

I have 3 pips now in my 'swap' eggs!!!!  2 are BA and 1 RIR!  How about you other 'swappers'?

So glad! My RIR seem like the hardiest critters! When Eric hatched mine he said almost every one popped like popcorn.
And if one of your blues hatches out black, it's the hen who was jumping the fence. So black split to lavender.

Please let me know if your LA hatched!

Does anyone know of a good swap/ tade/show around west ga?

There are a lot of swaps/sales in NW Ga at different TSC.
Today is one at Ft Oglethorpe.
June 11 in Woodstock.
Later in June in Cartersville

Not originally from here but stationed here now!

what branch are you in? My son just got out of the Navy after 9 years. Thank you for your service.

I love the babies! So cute! Omg I wish I could hatch chick but I'm so exided for everyone!

I'm growing sunflowers, squash, Nasturtium and my father growing pumpkins corn and ghost peppers.
Your egg hatched it's yellow so any ideas what it will grow up to be?

I've been considering doing this for when the newbies are together with the big kids. AND, I just saw Petsmart has a 3' one for $10. The only reason I haven't yet, is the first dust bath container I had stayed constantly wet every time it rained, despite the fact that it had lots of drainage holes for excess water to run out. How do you keep it dry? Or does it not matter if it turns into a puddle every now and then? I have a corner of the yard, where there is an extra tarp for some shade, I suppose I could put it there(?).
Bought the pool at Wal-Mart, drilled holes in bottom for drainage, put in 3 bags of topsoil dirt (they love the black dirt) added a bag of play sand and then a 5 gal bucket or two of wood ash. Mix it all with a rake and they were happy. Occasionally rake it when they get done to kinda level it out when they get done. It gets wet but seems to dry out fairly fast and they still use it, I added a little DE to it when it got wet and that helped a little. Would imagine if three or four days of constant rain, we have had the rain but either heavy for a short time or just a light rain and not all day it may become a little more muggy. But they still like to use it.

I made my broody get off the nest to eat and drink this morning and we have a pip! YAY!! One of the MFD eggs. She ate and drank a little then got right back on. That Little girl is locked down hard on those eggs!

Well the garden is doing good, but now have a problem. Momma rabbit decided this was a good place and she built a hole in the ground nest and has three babies, and only about 20 feet from my garden. So far no luck keeping her out, and soft hearted me can't exterminate her with her having little ones to tend to. So will have to find some means to keep her from destroying all my pole beans.

I planted some of my peppers, tomatoes and squash too early. They're barely hanging on, but I have plenty of seeds to sow again if I have to. I think the only reason they're not all dead is because Iplanted them all at the pool, so The heat that reflects off the cement kind of has it's own little microclimate there. My potato experiment is slightly successful, but I ran into a weird issue with the second container I planted. GAM gave me some tips about the mistakes I expected I was gonna make. I did, but that was exactly why I did it as an experiment. I knew I'd make crucial mistakes, so I needed to do a test run to know what NOT to do. Next year, I'll be ready.

Lettuces are coming up alright, that's easy. except for the slugs(so gross). The peas are the 3rd time I've tried to grow them, so I'm pleased. I have cucumbers coming up and some green beans creeping up the fence, too. We'll see what happens. All the pics I've posted on instagram have been hashtagged- #blackthumbofdeath!

sums up my gardening skills perfectly. I am a murderer of plants.

Carrots are another thing I can't seem to get right. I end up with all greens and no carrots. LOL
But carrot tops are one of Lucille's favorite anyway, so not a total loss. You got any advice on getting carrots right?

Well have no luck with carrots, radishes are not doing real good but better then the carrots. Cantaloupe, Honeydew and Watermelon doing good as well as tomatoes, peppers, Potatoes and onions and corn and squash. Just gotta figure out how to keep mommy rabbit out
