One of my broody Marans is locked up tight in the box and I can hear peeping from under her. The other 2 slackers abandoned theirs. So I moved them back with the others tonight. Hope they get chased around and round tomorrow. And wouldn't you know it, 2 other hens are broody now.
So I finally had a reason to convert this old dresser I've been holding on to into a Chick Hotel.


Didn't have to buy anything for it. Reused the dividers to make the doors. Had the wire and hinges leftover from other projects. Gonna move it tomorrow and put the new momma in it.
 
Oh yeah, you can now rent my plucker. It will do 2 chickens at a time and I'm told by a reliable source that it will do ducks and turkeys also.
But I wouldn't recommend doing them together. That just doesn't seem right, mixed breeds getting naked together and all.

Total report for this morning! Got two chicks out (MFD from @carcar80) at least 1 more MFD pipped, and the LA from @feathersaloft taking its sweet time zipping. I checked it and it's still alive in there and the membrane around the hole is still pliable, so I put it back.

And boy, mama was mad that I moved her this morning. No interest at all in eating or drinking, just kept trying to get back in the nest while I peeped at her babies.

Love it! We are going to hopefully pick up some shipping crates today to make a few new brooders.

My LA seem to take their sweet time. I'm not sure why. My blues and my RIR just pop on out.
 
I had a fun time over at flowerbh, I got a little lost getting home but I caught myself in drawsonville but Flowerbh taught me about egg hatching and all the fluffy babies were so cute! Her new coop is amazing and all the hens I toughed were so soft. I was fine helping out with thing (even if I didn't know how to use the vacuum) thank you so much for letting me come over and watch the babies!~ I hope #40 will hatch

When I did finally my mom told me "I think you have a broody." So I leave and then I get a broody so I just laughed and want our side where she was walking for an evening walk, she was not acting like she want to walk but still pecked around with everyone but when we came back and I cleaned her Koop she jump up and want back to sitting on 1 plastic Easter egg. I came out this morning and she was still sitting
