YO GEORGIANS! :)

Hey Georgians, does anyone know what kind of comb this is?

Speaking of predators, yeah, bears are all over the place, places you'd never expect. Certainly, coyotes are in most big cities, too. They were in full force here last night. Sounded like they were killing something, too, after the yip-fest. But, prior to that, all the dogs in the area who are left out at night, which is probably most of them, were going crazy. Boggles the mind why folks insist that their dogs are okay outside every night, and I don't mean livestock guardian dogs, but little yappy dogs-you can tell by the barking they are small dogs. Even a pitbull cannot defend itself against a pack of coyotes. And chain that dog up, he's completely defenseless. We have a huge pack that was seen last year, up to 40 individuals, most of them not looking very healthy. The loners look healthy, the ones in the huge packs need that pack to hunt effectively, it seems. They are doing a number on whitetail fawns, that's for sure.

eh bears are known to show where they dont belong in GA...but a nice rifle or shotgun usually does the trick...unless illegal up north ga
The Black Bears we have here in the state are the most docile, non-aggressive, beautiful creatures here in the mountains. We get them in the yard and love to watch them. If we see that they are about to get a bird feeder or wanting to get in the hot tub, we just open the door and calmly tell them to go home. They look longingly at the feeders, tilt their heads and then turn around and go back to the woods. They do not want to harm anyone. They are opportunist and will eat whatever is left out for them. So when we rent the house, we have to make sure the renters know not to leave their food, plates, garbage, etc outside.

Sorry, I just don't like to kill anything. I even take spiders out of my house and put them back in the woods.

And, I love hearing the coyotes at night. It is sad when you hear them doing the killing thing, but it makes me realize that life and death is a natural everyday thing and it makes me happy to be alive. I have been known to sometimes, in the middle of the night, go out on my porch and howl with the coyotes!! It is very freeing! hahahahhahahA.......BUT don't tell anyone that I said that!

And, I can hoot with the owls, too!

So, I am an old woman.....I am entitled to do all these weird things! I have earned it! (It's the only good thing about getting old!)

You are absolutely entitled to that! My mom says that all the time to me. I don't necessarily like to kill things either, unles its for food or when something places me or my family in danger.I do know when I lived in paulding county and Marietta we had several instances of bears being in neighborhoods and such, and just as many where I live now, coyotes are a different story around here. We actually get paid, by the state I think, for coyote kills, due to the fact that we are so over run with them.
Oh and i am the same on the spiders, but I only do that with daddy long legs ...lol but I leave all the spider webs around the outside of the house..

Insecticide question. I bought some of that stuff Demon something, safe for chickens, but I have ants in the coop and run. I was going to spray the coop this morning so it can dry, then tonight after they go to roost, spray the run...do y'all think that would be a good idea?
