YO GEORGIANS! :)

I mentioned yesterday that I hadn't seen a snake yet this season and that they're coming out of hibernation now, and they're hungry. Well, my wait is over! This afternoon my son discovered a four-and-a-half-foot black rat snake in our house! It was coming out of the brooder room and into the hallway. We cornered it, and he caught it.

Unfortunately, it ate and regurgitated one of my wife's 4-week-old partridge silkies. The top of the brooder was two-and-a-half feet above ground level. Looks like I will be moving all my brooders to four feet above ground level.

The snake came in through a hole in the closet that was drilled by the cable company. The size of the hole is (you guessed it!) about the size of a nickel. Anyway, here are some photos (Son insisted I use a blur to hide his identity...lol):

Awe, so sad! Poor little baby silkie!

I'm not sure what state she lives in, but I was thinking it was Arizona. You can look her up on the Naked Neck thread. Her name is Kassaundra. Here is one of her new babies she just posted.
She lives in Arkansas

Oh wait till he gets a little older and he will want all the chicks to see him,

Dang. I got two fancyish chicks to keep my lone turkey poult company and they both are boys. They both have pink wattles at 3 weeks old. :( I have no luck getting pullets with straight run. So if anyone needs a silver laced wyandotte or barnavelder cockerel, let me know. I don't want to process them when they are so pretty. But I'll have no use for them in a few weeks.
What part of Georgia??

Welcome to our newbies

@GAMarans I can't wait for our BYC Georgia cook out, newbies are welcome too, the annual company trip to 6 flags is the same day and told DH gotta go to Gams and Robos

I have dogs and control them why can't others? If anyone has issues I apologize and correct the problem

I have worked with the public and animals since I was 13. First at the Animal Shelter then as a vet tech. I will be 32 next week.

The truth of the matter is,MOST of the public has no business owning any dog, much less any animal. They can't (or won't) train them, they won't (or can't) take proper medical care of them, and EVERYTHING is someone else's fault.

You get so jaded so fast working with animals and the public

Happy Birthday, and I have 4 dogs no fence and I dare then to leave the yard, they are only outside when I'm home, but I understand irresponsible pet owners, oh and my animals are fully vetted. They have a pasture behind us they can go explore but you better not cross the road and they know it too. Just saying it can be done with a little work, just to let you know I'm not taking offence to your post just adding my 2 cents worth.
