YO GEORGIANS! :)

I don't know if something else is in the works, but I can offer my yard for a potluck. I'm in Fort Valley and I have a few acres, so if you want to bring your chickens that you presold or whatever, there's plenty of space. I have a bbq and could get another. But it's a pretty humble house and you'll have to excuse the overfull carport. Lol. I just processed a whole bunch of roosters too, so I could bbq some chickens. If we had more time, I'd say we could do a whole pig. Maybe another time. Anyway, just throwing that out there. I know it doesn't make up for the lost sales, which I too am really disappointed about. My chickens don't freerange and I have NPIP too, if you all are worried about biosecurity and that jazz. My neighbors 4 chickens go into my front yard, but we'd be in the back. And now I'm rambling.

I'm up for it, and I have the ribs, so if others want to do this, I'm game. Whatever happens, I appreciate your offer.
Also, @brucifer, the feed store near me had sourwood honey. I was going to buy some, but they wanted $8 for the tiniest jar I ever saw. So I'm guessing it's in season (or whatever you call honey).
Yeah, last year was not a good (plentiful) crop, so sourwood honey was like gold, but this year it's supposed to be plentiful, so the price should come down. Also, we like to go up to the source to get sourwood honey if we can.

I live about 200 miles from you on the other side of Atlanta in Villa Rica/Carrollton. Madison is about mid-way point, and we could possibly meet there. Another possibility is that some of may meet in Macon on Saturday informally to transfer birds, buy eggs, etc., since some of us already had pre-sales in the works. I'll keep you informed as things takes shape.

ETA: Looks like Olivia was thinking the same thing! :D
I really like the idea of meeting in Madison I am not far from I 20 where I live and 20 goes straight there. I really want Blue and one White quality silky. How much do you want for them. You can message me if you want. I'm not sure how pm works but I'll figure it out.

Since we've had so much drama today, I thought a change of pace might be refreshing, so here's a few updated photos taken this afternoon of the Showgirl Silkies we got from @Flowerbh :

This is Phoebe, looking pretty as ever. She's the photogenic one. I couldn't get her too close to the sunflower because there was a bumblebee gathering nectar from it. If you look closely, you can see the bumblebee just over Phoebe's head.

This is a full body shot of Phoebe. As you can see, she's become quite a handful!

Here's a shot of Petunia. Not a great photo, but that's not her fault. The camera went out of focus just as I took the picture, so the bokah is in the front instead of in the background. You can still tell that she's a pretty little Showgirl, and a handful, and a bit camera shy. Again, our friend the bumblebee was photobombing the shot.

@eclecktic1 Thank you so much! I will be giving him a call. Have you bought yet this year? Lisa and I usually go up to Dahlonega each year to buy some. I've tasted lots of different kinds of honey, but that sourwood is extra special. Thanks again!
I have blueberry honey. a friend one exit up has blueberry fields, the bee's pollinate and we get the blueberry. never had sourwood honey...might have to scratch some up

There's no going back once you try sourwood honey, at least for me and Lisa it was that way. I didn't know what all the hoopla was about when I first learned of sourwood honey, but then we went to Dehlonega and tried some, and we were sold. It's so prized locally that most of it never leaves the Appalachian region, and when you do find it on the outside, it's priced higher than a cat's back.

Blueberry honey is also very nice. You may have to turn me on to your source. We don't live that far from you.

One of my AWESOME BYC friends just send us a quart jar of blackberry honey from her apiary. I guess that's about three pounds. Lisa, Christopher, and I plan to try some this evening. It has such a dark, rich color. I'll try to post a photo.

Me too, and I won't be at this point. Kat, I'll probably be going to somewhere in Middle Georgia (sounds like Middle Earth ) on Saturday and meeting with Marie. Would you like me to get your birds for you? I can go to Rome on Sunday. Just let me know.

It would be great if we could put together a last-minute pot luck somewhere for this Saturday since our event has been CANCELLED! I have 4-6 racks of pork ribs I could smoke tomorrow and bring to the Middle Earth venue on Saturday. I need to get my reserved Orp hatching eggs from a breeder while I can, and Lisa still wants to move some of her extra Silkie boys.

On another note, I get a real kick out of one of Lisa's Black Partridge Silkie roosters, Biff. Lately, every time she gets near him, he does the rooster shuffle dance and hops toward her sideways. I think he's in love! He doesn't do that to me or Christopher, just Lisa! :lau[/QUOTE
That is
Very tempting let me get back to you. And Lisa has a boyfriend lol so funny.

Since it's chicken family-photo day, here are a few more photos:

The above photo is of Angel. He's a Splash Silkie Sizzle, and a very curious sweet bird. He's simply just fun. Since his feathers are curled he's not a bird you can easily pet, but he likes to be held and is still very soft.

Introducing Angel II. He's another Splash Silkie Sizzle just like Angel, and just like his brother, he loves to be held and is as cute as the dickens! He likes undivided attention though, so you can't hold him and watch a movie at the same time. That violates his non-competition agreement in which he strictly enforces!

This is the blackberry honey that my BYC friend sent me all the way from Northern California. It is so dark that even with the full sun behind the jar, it is still very dark. I can't wait to drizzle some of this over a wedge of homemade cornbread.
