Where do you get your plugs from (if that's what you use)?
I'm set up to use the sawdust spore. It's cheaper if you're doing a large number of logs. If you just want to do a few, then plugs are the way to go.
I order from Field & Forest http://www.fieldforest.net/
Wherever you order from, place your order ahead of time in case they are out of what you want.

Thanks. I've been wanting to do mushrooms forever, but I've been a little nervous about it and not sure where to start.

You're welcome to come up and work on them with us. We usually do them in Feb. Work a few hours, learn how to do it, buy freshly inoculated logs for $10 a piece.

This is my Blue Partridge Brahma. He is just about 7 months old. I think he is so handsome!

What's the thing with mushrooms? What do you use them for?
you eat them, it's a garden so to speak like your vegie garden, and now I will have a nice supply of shiitake mushrooms. So when they really start to come in and I have more than I can use I will dry them and save them, and no paying high prices at the store
