Got home from Florida......went to put the eggs in lockdown.....I HEAR PEEPING!!! So, candled them while putting them in the carton for hatching and most have already pipped internally! Baby chicks soon!

I don't measure temps. I see how they are doing and look at feather growth. If they are close to the heat source and huddled together, it's too cold. If they are far away, maybe breathing with open mouths, it's too hot. If they are spread around, happily doing chick things, they are happy. Constant high pitched peeping means there is a problem. If they are feathered out they need less heat. The minimum amount of heat you can give them while they are still acting comfortable, the faster they will feather out.Hey everyone! Been a while. With so many, they tend to keep each other warmer better. Just curious, why are you taking them from the hen? Hens do such a great job raising chicks.That makes sense. Last hatch I only had one. This hatch I have 12. This is only my second hatch. This is my largest hatch yet, so it’s all still new to me.
