YO GEORGIANS! :)

I'm out of the loop again due to lack of notifications. Hi all you new to the forum people!

So I just got 3 new pigs and they are super cute. We're thinking american guinea hog/kunekune mix. The two females are bred too, one heavily so and probably due any time. If you need a pig or two in the future, hit me up. ;-) I decided to name them Hamilton, Angelica, and Eliza since my sister had me listen to the whole musical on the way down to Tampa this past weekend and now all the songs are stuck in my head.

I got a new turkey too. Strangely she hates my single showgirl roo I had in the back that lives with the goats. He went by the pen I have her in for now and they were fighting through the fence. She tore him up, but I couldn't catch him until night time. He's a fast sucker. His poor ugly face is even uglier now.

Small world. When I lived in Standing Rock, I went to Troup Co. schools but spent my weekends with all my friends in Roanoke. I moved to the Mountains in '87. I still have family in LaGrange, and in Valley, Al. It was a great place to grow up! I' ll be coming down to go crappie fishing in the next couple of weeks, I'll bet they are really gettin' fired up about now. My Grandmother lives on Roanoke Rd. near the skating rink and Highland marina. I lived just across the tracks in Standing Rock, don't remember a scrap yard, but there was a pulpwood yard. Maybe a different RR crossing.:old

How 'bout that? :) We may know each other. LOL I graduated from Troup in '84. I think maybe there was a pulpwood yard there maybe. I don't think the scrapyard has been there too long. If you're coming from LaGrange, right there where the Rock is and that building where they used to hold the auction, you turn left there. The scrapyard is just across the railroad tracks on the right.

Franklin lol!!

Where can we find some lumber not priced an arm and a leg around here???
I need to build my chicken house!

Dang, I think low cost lumber is a thing of the past! I used to really prefer the lumber at Lowe's over HD, but the last couple projects I did, I drove up to Lowe's in Newnan and their lumber had gotten worse in quality than HD's for the same price! If you've got to drive to get it, you might call Builder's First Source in LaGrange. They're usually a good bit lower than HD, but their lumber sits outside, so make sure you load your own. If you let them load it, more often than not they'll try to give you the "left overs" that no one else would take. If you're going to paint it and don't need pressure treated, you might try to find a local sawmill operation. Especially if you have access to some trees and they just cut the stuff for you. Plus with those guys being small operators *sometimes* they're willing to barter if you've got something to trade that you don't need. :)

Yep, that was a pulpwood yard when I was a kid. I lived in the next house on the right past the tracks. We played all over those train tracks and that pulpwood yard. The auction house was a store and the old bank building was Hammond's grocery. I had a weekend gig at Hammond's dippin' minnows in the summer in the early '80's. Wow! The memories come flooding back. I would have graduated in "87, but dropped out when my dad died in a car wreck in '85. I went back and finished in Blue Ridge. Okay, this is making me homesick.

I stopped by TSC just to get starter for the chicks that I am expecting over the weekend. I have about 24 eggs due to hatch, Phoenix, Calico Cochin, and Olive Eggers with possible frizzles. I got caught in the trap. There is no way to buy poultry supplies without passing by those danged chicks. I bit...:idunno

I couldn't help myself, I already had a brooder set up, and I haven't seen EE's this beautiful color before. They were marked Ameraucana, but we all know how that goes. Has anyone had EE's like this before?

It was the Ellijay TSC. I went to Blue Ridge and they didn't have any, they had some pretty bantams though. They still had 4 or 5 of the ones, like I got, in Ellijay. They will probably still have them tomorrow. They are straight run, but only $1.99 each.

Think outside the box. Use an old gazebo or a trampoline
