One batch was hatched with an incubator. I gave a member a dozen eggs to hatch.

My batch was hatch by my hen. The remaining three I have aren’t starting to peep. With it being so cold tonight I didn’t want to mess with them too much.

Congrats!! So exciting

@Kgbao — how is your batch coming along? I haven’t been candling this batch at all. I only candled enough to verify all were fertile but not long enough to ensure movement. I guess I’ll find out on day 18 when they go on lockdown.

We candled on day 14 (umm 2 nights ago) we lost 3, 2 had blood rings, 1 had a bad crack with a hole (no idea how it happened). So right now down to 11 eggs out of the original 15, 9 showing movement, the other 2 look the same as the rest just couldn’t see any movement.

Hello, everyone! Anyone else in NE Georgia?

Welcome! I’m from SW GA, so actually the complete opposite

I candled my eggs and sad to say that I had 3 quitters. I actually think it happened during the switch of trying to get my broody to sit on them. But all others look good so I’m happy.

I knew they weren’t developing anymore because there were no veins and part of the egg was clear and all three had a black blob with no movement. While all other eggs are dark and veiny and I saw movement. Plus when I cracked them open I saw no red veins whatsoever

Hopefully the rest will hatch out with no problems.

My last batch was 100% so I have high hopes. I really think those three were due to moving them out of the incubator to a nest for the broody and then back in the incubator when she got off them.

I have some barnyard mix hatching. I'm working so my husband sent me a pic. Of course he completely opened the incubator. Lol. I gave 4 of the eggs to a first time broody so I'll see if she has babies tomorrow.
