Louie good for you on the sale....I sold 3 RIR hens yesterday and 1 Buff a few days ago...

I have 10 more RIR hens to go!!! And a few Pumpkin Hulsey boys. Also play on selling a few Brown Chinese Geese, if my hubby will let me! He loves those!!!

Okay I'm needing to count again, but I know we have more than 500..... Oh Georgians! I'm on the Poultry addiciton group and need to stay off BYC!!! I keep wanting more.
I'm trying to slow down incubating, but it's hard!!!! Now the geese have started laying....Should I incubate or sell the eggs???? Anyone need any Brown chinese goose eggs. They are nice!~

Well time to get out and feed all of these!

Why do you need to sell so many hens?

It's a matter of feed and pen economics.....With 500 + critters, we spend more in feed a month than an average house payment....so we rotate our hens around 1 1/2 years old...I know that sounds bizarre. A lot of people wait until they are 2 to 3 years old, but we want to sell folks younger birds that are still laying well.....These RIR, are occupying a huge tractor trailer that houses up to 20 hens very well and is moved around by the tractor.... So either I let them totally free range, which would be a bad idea in our parts, coyotes, hawks and wild dogs abound and even with our guard dogs, they would surely be at risk! I'm sure they will sell, I just have to keep reposting them, as in this colder weather we're in, folks aren't really looking for hens much! Have a blessed one and if you see any one looking for hens, please send them my way...I'm dealing!

I'll lead them to you! I actually met a man recently that said he was JUST starting out on chickens and wanted LOTS of hens, ducks, pea fowl, etc. and maybe I could give him a call for you

Nancy- Do you still have some BOs you are looking to rehome? Please let me know if you do and we may come out and get a few this weekend if that works for you and Jacque. Also, do you have any Dels you are looking to part with? Hope all is well on your farm, how is the new Silkie project going? Stay dry and we will see you soon -Mandy

Also, just for your info, I just listed my little flock of beloved Delawares on Auction!!!

I have to downsize a bit for health reasons, which I don't want to detail at present. These are adults and laying well.... I have a few younger ones (I think about 8) that I have not listed yet age 12 to 17 weeks that I think you should be able to identify boy/girl as well. I think these may be on hold, Again, need to speak with the "boss" LOL....

Please let me know if you are interested in the younger ones. I probably won't post them until tomorrow as I need to make some pictures of them.

Thanks and please say hi to the family....Nancy
