YO GEORGIANS! :)

Well, my blue/green eggs from neighbor never hatched . They were due on the 21st and nothing. I waited a few days then tossed them out. They weren't fertile. My poor silkie sat in the nest for a whole month before I even gave her the eggs, then they were duds. I felt so sorry for her, but she finally gave up on being broody.

Oh no!!! So sorry to hear that

If you want some ee's, I've had great reports of 100% fertility - that was chickemama and I've another posting up for them and several of our breeds...If you see any of our breeds you would like, be sure and let me know by PM...Sorry yours didn't hatch. Nancy

Yeah, I picked up two baby silkies from a lady in Buford and I thought I could trick my broody into thinking they were hers. It looked like it was going to work, but then she started pecking them. Oh well, I tried.

She stopped being broody for now.

Though it's very tempting, I'm trying really hard not to go over 20 chickens, lol. I have 1 silkie and a 1 cochin pullet I need to sell or trade before I can purchase any of your OE's.

Thanks Nancy. As for now, I'm just trying to make room for an OE or two from Nicole. Also, on the look out for another white cochin frizzle, bantam size. Ours "Daisy Ruffles" was killed by a hawk this past Monday. : (

Shannon has frizzles, but am not sure if cochin frizzles. I'm sorry about your loss. We had a sad loss today...One of my black orpingtons had to be put to sleep as she had a horrific prolapse which would not stay in place, and believe we tried over and over...She was hurting so badly it was the responsible owner decision, still a tough one.Nancy

Nancy, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss too. I'm new to owning chicken as of this year. This was our second loss with in a month, both by hawks. Both were dead by the time I found them. I'm not sure what I would do if I needed to put one of my girls down. I guess I should prepare for it because it's bound to happen one day. Hopefully later than sooner.

Thanks Dawn Marie for your kind words.. I'm prepared but as I love all our animals deeply, I mourn when one of them needs euthanizing... Nancy
