Yogurt as a treat

I use a lower fat content but organic yogurt and usually mix some scratch, egg yolk, or their chick feed with it so less messy. They love it even with the fish oil in it and their feathers are coming in beautifully!

All of our girls love yogurt! The first time I gave it to my first group of chicks, I gave it to them plain and they didn't like it. Then I mixed it with their starter crumbles and it was a feeding frenzy! So, every group of chicks since then has gotten it first mixed with their food. Now, all of them will gobble it anyway I give it to them. I usually mix it with left over brown rice or steel cut oats and lots of cut up fruits and vegies. We start each day with a yogurt treat. I always feed them plain yogurt with active cultures.

I've never thought about mixing fish oil in with their treats. Good idea!

Yeah, I'm not sure if its the yogurt or the fish oil. And I have also used oregano oil when one was acting a bit down (its a natural antibiotic) for 7 days, they didn't like that as well with the mix, but did eat it up. O-oil is thicker and stickier... Now I am out of yogurt though... time for shopping trip!

The first time, mine didn't like it. I started adding their fav treats: fruits or sprinkling a seven grain fresh raw mix on it. Didn't take too long to get used to it - it is plain organic, made from whole milk. Now they'll eat it alone, but I still prefer mixing something organic based with it.
