You all have corrupted me

Now I have my BR, my silkies, cochins (frizzled), marans in the bator and I'm trying to figure out how I can sneak polish eggs or chicks past my dh. Oh, and though we've only *just* finished the chicken condo (sort of, enough to move the 7 week old silkies and cochins out there, anyway), I already have plans for that door crate that I liberated (with permission) from the new dollar store going in down the street. i think I almost have enough scraps from the condo to put together a third coop, except for the roofing materials...But maybe I should finish the condo for real before i move onto the next one. Oh, and I still have to figure out what I'm going t do with the quail after they graduate from the first brooder....

I really only wanted half a dozen hens, now I have 57 birds, plus 10 eggs hatching this weekend, and the quail in the bator. And don't forgetthe 7 ducks and four geese.

Anyone up for turkeys! lol

I say go for the whole shed.....we just gave up our whole shed just for a place for the chickens to lay eggs. They where laying in the garage....but DH didnt like that so now they have their coop and the whole shed and the shed is just for laying.

Ok but if I do that, you get to explain to my wife why here car is parked outside now. Since I will need her spot in the garage for my riding lawnmower etc.

ok, no problem!!! my DH delt with chicken poo around (and on ) is corvette for 6 months....so if he delt with that...a car in the driveway is nothing.
Heck...just build a lean too for the mower!!!
come on by on Nov 5th and get some day old chicks from us!!!!

Maybe if there was only one kind of chicken I wouldn't feel like I need to experience so many of them... Dunno. But the more I read about Silkies, Frizzles, Chocolate Eggers, Bantams, Blues, D'uccles, etc. etc. etc. the more my head tells me I want more chickens!!

Soooooooooo glad you all are giving great homes to these feathered friends & not buying store bought eggs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

momma's chickens :

Okay, it wasn't quite that funny, you live in Idaho also you know, some of these chicks may end up at your house.

I think my husband only thinks we're getting 3 or 4 hens hahaha!!
I'm getting and possibly breeding and showing Dorkings, Welsummers, Marans, Favorelles, Silkies, etc etc
Well, that's my intended plans, but that's already 5 types of chickens...
Good thing he was raised on a farm, or else he would think I was crazy! or am I?

Redhead, you are safe, I live up north about forty miles from Lewiston.

I can't stay out of the laundry room, I am going in there constantly to check on them and try to figure out their breeds. If you want to see pics, go to the "Oh me, Oh my" thread on raising baby chicks. You won't regret it they are way too cute!

I have had chickens for quite some time now. Just a little laying flock with a few guineas mixed in. Well, my hens had started getting old and stopped laying. So I looked around for more eggs and somehow found this site. I got a dozen eggs from ebay, just another mixed flock to add some layers to mine. Hatched out 4, very happy. Have been wanting seramas for years, ordered 12 of those eggs, decided I might as well fill the incubator, got a different mixed batch of 12 with Polish, salmon favorelles and others. The seller of the seramas sent me 36 eggs!!! The other seller sent 16! EEEK! So took out half the turner and am turning the seramas by hand. Candled and so far 12 of the larger eggs are still going and 31 seramas! Then I bought another incubator just a couple days ago. (are we seeing a trend here?) I now have 12 marans, 9 welsummers and a mixed batch of 12 eggs coming today or tomorrow. There are about 8 other breeds I would like to get, lol. I have three large pens and 4 smaller ones. I am contemplating on how I can build more.
